On Tuesday, Joe Lauria of Consortium News confirmed that it was indeed Pulitzer-award-winning journalist Seymour Hersh’s voice in the jaw-dropping audio leaked on August 1. This recorded phone call drops the mother of all truth bombs on the Seth Rich case, RussiaGate, Central Intelligence, and mainstream media.
Most notably, the Hersh audio presents a big puzzle piece for the Seth Rich picture. Confirmation that he was the inside leaker would add proof to the scrumptious pudding that RussiaGate is fucking bullshit. No wonder mainstream media is ignoring it. Alternative media has given insufficient attention to the details as well, perhaps out of respect for the humiliation factor or because of a discrepancy discussed below. A closer analysis is warranted.
The audio is particularly remarkable in light of Hersh’s track record of six award-filled decades, breaking giant stories on US government lies, cover-ups and crimes, such as the My Lai massacre in Vietnam, Abu Ghraib prison torture, debunking Obama’s claims that Assad used sarin gas in 2013, and the smuggled weapons “rat line” from Libya to Syria, among others. Indeed, if anyone has credible high-level intelligence sources, it would be Hersh.
Despite a preponderance of four-letter-words, it plays like a melody to Seth Rich researchers. This secretly recorded phone call with Ed Butowsky, a wealthy Republican who offered to finance Rod Wheeler’s Seth Rich murder investigation, drops eight bombshells:
(1) According to Hersh’s high-level FBI insider source, Seth Rich leaked the DNC and Podesta emails to Wikileaks by giving Wikileaks access to a drop box.
(2) Seth shared his drop box password with a couple friends as backup.
(3) RussiaGate is “all bullshit.”
(4) Obama’s intelligence chiefs fabricated RussiaGate to get Hillary elected so they could keep their cushy $600,000 jobs.
(5) The NSA and CIA briefed the press on RussiaGate and “run” the mainstream media.
(6) It is a disinformation operation.
(7) In the mainstream media, “They all fucking lie about [Trump].”
(8) Regardless of how Wikileaks got the emails, “the democrats themselves wrote this shit.”
If you haven’t listened yet, it’s well worth your six minutes. F-bombs aside, that leak must be embarrassing for Hersh, who apparently was investigating the Rich case. Hersh confirmed it’s his voice, without further comment to Lauria, “angrily condemning those who he said secretly recorded him, without identifying them.”
To confound matters, however, Hersh backtracked about his FBI intel. August 2, Big League Politics published a June email exchange in which Butowsky urged him to go public, Hersh denied having such a source, apparently unaware of the prior recorded call. Butowsky’s email response was:
You clearly said — my memory is perfect — that you had a friend at the FBI who read / told you what was in the file on Seth Rich and I wonder why you aren’t helping your country and sharing that information on who it was?
Then in a National Propaganda Radio interview last week, Hersh stated, “”I hear gossip. [Butowsky] took two and two and made 45 out of it.” Seeking clarification, Big League Politics’ Editor-in-Chief phoned Hersh, who reportedly replied, “I’m not going to comment about that stuff, I mean, come on, I live in the real world.”
About this backtracking, first off, do you blame him? In the real world,Wikileaks exposed Hillary. In the real world, there’s been a statistically implausible number of suspicious deaths of persons connected to Wikileaks and the DNC Fraud Lawsuit, as demonstrated in this mathemetician’s analysisand this report by DNC Fraud lawsuit attorney, Elizabeth Lee Beck, whose co-counsel received these death threats.
In her opinion piece, Seymour Hersh Owes the World an Explanation for His Seth Rich Comments, Caitlin Johnstone cautions that the survival of our species and planet may rest in Hersh’s hands, especially considering the escalated tensions with Russia due to H.R. 3364 sanctions. She urges him to come clean on his duplicity:
Mr. Hersh, … imagine you look out the window . . . and see a mushroom cloud growing on the horizon. . . . Will you feel glad that you protected your reputation or your safety or whatever by remaining silent, or would you wish you’d done a bit more?
I agree, and hope he’s about to break a big story. Meantime, no sweat. We’ve got plenty to work with here. Given Hersh’s reputation for uncovering cover-ups, you can bet your bottom dollar I’m going with him over mainstream media and their Snopes lackey who call the leaker angle a conspiracy theory. I’m also going with what Hersh said originally, considering the circumstances, which I will unpack.
Here’s my rationale for his contradiction. In the email exchange, Butowsky — who had a politically-motivated bias — pushed Hersh to go public against his will. Maybe he wasn’t ready to discuss it in writing. Maybe he wasn’t ready to go public with his story. Maybe he’s working on more leads to ensure an ironclad story. Or maybe, just maybe, he backed off the story after seeing all the DNC and Wikileaks-related deaths and death threats.
Let’s do a little “social autopsy” of Hersh’s bombshells, shall we?
(1) According to Hersh’s high-level FBI insider source, Seth Rich leaked the DNC and Podesta emails to Wikileaks by giving Wikileaks access to a drop box.
Basement dwellers and deplorables have said it was Seth Rich for a year, and are high-fiving this intel. His words from the audio are:
I have somebody on the inside. You know, I’ve been around a long time, and I write a lot of stuff. I have somebody on the inside who will go and read a file for me. This person is unbelievably accurate and careful. He’s a very high-level guy, and he’ll do a favor. You’re just going to have to trust me. . . . I’d just say late spring, early summer and [Seth Rich] makes contact with Wikileaks. That’s in his computer. And he makes contact.” Hersh highlights that none of the DNC and Podesta emails are dated after May 21 or 22, and that “Wikileaks got access before he was killed” in late spring, likely June.
(2) Seth shared his drop box password with a couple friends as backup.
Hersh quotes Rich: “’I’ve also shared this box with a couple of friends so if anything happens to me, it’s not going to solve your problem.’” To which Hersh says, “I don’t know what that means.” Most likely, this message wasn’t sent to Wikileaks but rather, possibly, the bosses he was feuding with. Maybe they’d caught him downloading files.
Sounds like Seth gave his drop box password to friends in case he was compromised, to ensure safe transmission to Wikileaks. Who were the buddies? Maybe Shawn Lucas — who died under suspicious circumstances shortly after serving the DNC with the fraud lawsuit papers, also named as a key witness. Last night a story broke alleging Seth Rich was poisoned the night of his murder with the identical concoction as Shawn Lucas’s autopsy toxicology. Whoever his drop box pals were, it goes without saying: they need to watch their back.
(3) RussiaGate is “all bullshit.”
(4) Obama’s intelligence chiefs fabricated RussiaGate to get Hillary elected so they could keep their cushy $600,000 jobs.
No surprises here. There weren’t 17 intelligence agencies targeting Russia. Remember when Hillary pulled #17 out of her ass? I bet it’s her favorite number (hint: email: hrod17@clintonemail.com) because at 17 she lost her virginity or stopped counting the Clinton bodies. No, Hillary. It was three agencies — a few CIA, FBI, and NSA analysts, specially “hand-picked” to guarantee the bosses’ “agenda-driven” outcome, as explained by veteran intelligence officers in their July debunking-RussiaGate memo to Trump. Feast your eyes on Hersh’s audio script:
I can tell you right now Brennan is an asshole. Uh, I’ve known all these people for years. Clapper is sort of a better guy but not a rocket scientist. The NSA guy’s a fucking moron, and they don’t — You know the trouble with all of those guys is that the only way they’re going to make it to a board or two and get hired by (USAID?) to deliver some fat cat contracts is if Hillary stayed in. With Trump, they’re gone. You know, they’re done! They’re gonna live on their pension. They’re not going to make it. I gotta tell you: guys in that job — they don’t want to live on their pension. They want to be on boards like their — make 600,000 bucks . . ..
Considering all the talk lately of the Deep State running our puppet government, if Hersh’s assertion is correct, it’s actually a novel revelation to find out those intelligence directors are merely motivated by the instinctual urge for job security by keeping Doomocrats in the White House rather than by the omnicidal drive to land her highness in the White House to complete her total Banana-zation of our republic and conquest of the planet. This comment makes them appear slightly less inhumane. Clearly they need term limits.
(5) The NSA and CIA briefed the press on RussiaGate and “run” the mainstream media.
(6) This is a disinformation operation.
(7) “They all fucking lie about [Trump]” in the mainstream media.
Here’s the full-length quote:
I have what they call in my business long-form journalism. I have a narrative of how that whole fucking thing began. It’s a Brennan operation. It was an American disinformation and fucking the fuckin’ President, at one point when they, they even started telling the press. They were back briefing the press. The head of the NSA was going and telling the press, fucking cock-sucker Rogers, was telling the press that we even know who in the GRU, the Russian Military Intelligence Service, who leaked it. I mean all bullshit. They were telling the stup- I worked at the New York Times for fucking years, and the trouble with the fucking New York Times is they have smart guys, but they’re totally beholden on sources. If the President or the head of the (C???) does something to actually believe — . I was actually hired at the time to write, to go after the war in Vietnam War in ’72 because they were just locked in. So that’s what the Times did. These guys run the fucking Times, and Trump’s not wrong. I mean I wish he would calm down and had a better a better press secretary. I mean you don’t have to be so — Trump’s not wrong to think they’re all fucking lie about him. I can tell you right n….
In short, Hersh asserts that the CIA and NSA directors “run” mainstream media, fabricated the entire Russia story, and lied to mainstream reporters, who are beholden to them as their primary source. Fabulous to hear from Hersh, albeit not earth-shattering news, as we’ve seen here, here, here, here, here, and here, especially, the media’s legendary DNC-bias and imbalanced reporting on Trump as seen here, here, and here.
(8) “By the way, all this shit about the DNC, um, you know, whether it was hacked or wasn’t hacked, whatever happened, the democrats themselves wrote this shit. You know what I mean?”
This brings us full circle in the argument of why the fuck is the mainstream media and its followers focused on Russia rather than Wikileaks content, which factored into her defeat due to email evidence of pay to play, cronyism, media collusion, election cheating, greed, email deletions, creepy code words, and incompetence.
I imagine Hersh won’t elaborate any time soon. His career speaks for itself, as do his words and the above rationale. This intrepid investigator has turned up so much dirt on the US government that he can’t get published by mainstream outlets in the US.
One last thing about the audio. Seth Rich researchers bristled at Hersh’s comments about Seth’s demand for payment and the botched robbery. Hersh said, “All I know is that he (Seth) offered a sample, an extensive sample. You know, I’m sure dozens of emails, and said ‘I want money.’” People speculate that maybe the money is why his family acts fishy. Or that maybe he needed money for a Snowden-style getaway. In my opinion, so what if he wanted compensation? Big deal. He was taking an extraordinary risk — look how that panned out — providing history-shattering intel.
I don’t buy the botched robbery story. If you listen closely, Hersh never says his FBI source told him this. Here’s my theory. So we know Hersh has been duplicitous with Butowsky. Gee, maybe that’s because he doesn’t trust him. He knew Butowsky was financing Wheeler’s murder investigation, which Hersh was allegedly investigating too. Perhaps Hersh had intel he wasn’t at liberty to reveal. Maybe he wanted to break the story first, or protect evidence. Premature disclosures disrupt ongoing investigations.
I bet Hersh and the mainstream media would love to make this ordeal go away. The day it surfaced, the funniest thing happened. Mainstream media blasted the airwaves with the Rod Wheeler/Fox lawsuit to discredit the inside leak theory. You’d almost think they’d timed the release to drown out news of the Hersh audio. Ya think? Especially since Hersh says it was a botched robbery, BUT that Seth was the DNC AND Podesta emails leaker anyway! The hypnotized public fell for the ploy, as you can see from this moronic comment regarding the lawsuit news.
The great news is that each week major strides in Russia debunkery . Yesterday RussiaGate just got its knock out blow with an ironclad IT forensics presentation by The Nation, based largely on the veteran intelligence profressionals’ memo, which is based on this and this analysis. The IT forensics pour like concrete into the gaping holes in the Russia plot, sealing up crevices so no more bullshit can seep through. Caitlin Johnstone wisely urges everyone to re-share #HackingHoax with The Nation article far and wide on a daily basis.
Despite unanswered questions about his comments, the Hersh audio is a formidable step forward in the Seth Rich case, in debunking RussiaGate, and in corroborating the NSA/CIA’s #VeryFakeNews disinfo bullshit operation on mainstream media. Due to effective RussiaGate debunkery this past week, guess what guys, North Korean lies are trending instead. The military industrial World-War-Three machine drums louder by the day. Mainstream outlets will spin new lies tomorrow.
So let’s share this Hersh audio widely along with The Nation article and hashtag #HackingHoax. C’mon, let’s give Sy Hersh tons of exposure for extra protection. Set Sy’s audio as your outgoing voice message. Email them to your RussiaGater friends and family. Here is a rough transcript of the audio to keep handy for reference. You’re gonna want to keep your arsenal fully stocked for those asshat moments, like Neera Tanden’s:
Let’s follow Caity’s advice:
The Russia debunkery news has already hit mainstream! Let’s keep up the pressure until the message saturates the entire mainstream and the intelligence community comes clean! Below is a meme I made with love specially for you to share. You can make a difference. Our very lives and mother Earth are counting on us.
This is my first article on medium. Please share if you enjoy.

The Best Definition of Donald Trump We Have Found
In his zeal to prove to his antagonists in the War Party that he is as bloodthirsty as their champion, Hillary Clinton, and more manly than Barack Obama, Trump seems to have gone “play-crazy” -- acting like an unpredictable maniac in order to terrorize the Russians into forcing some kind of dramatic concessions from their Syrian allies, or risk Armageddon. However, the “play-crazy” gambit can only work when the leader is, in real life, a disciplined and intelligent actor, who knows precisely what actual boundaries must not be crossed. That ain’t Donald Trump -- a pitifully shallow and ill-disciplined man, emotionally handicapped by obscene privilege and cognitively crippled by white American chauvinism. By pushing Trump into a corner and demanding that he display his most bellicose self, or be ceaselessly mocked as a “puppet” and minion of Russia, a lesser power, the War Party and its media and clandestine services have created a perfect storm of mayhem that may consume us all.— Glen Ford, Editor in Chief, Black Agenda Report
