Did you know that renowned Hellen Keller, who was the first deaf blind person to win a bachelor of arts degree was an advocate of social democracy (communism)? That Albert Einstein was a confirmed and lifelong socialist? That the 2014 Nobel Peace prize went to Malala Yousafzai, a 17 year old Pakistani activist for children’s education who is also an avowed anti-imperialist socialist? There are many other examples but you never heard of them because the corporate media hid such facts from you. They lie by commission and most frequently by omission. Read below Einstein explanation why he became a socialist. —Eds.
[dropcap]I[/dropcap]S IT ADVISABLE FOR ONE WHO IS NOT AN EXPERT on economic and social issues to express views on the subject of socialism? I believe for a number of reasons that it is.

ALBERT EINSTEIN needs no introduction. His faith in socialism was the kind of “detail” about his biography that the media gatekeepers carefully kept out of sight.
This essay is an uncanny echo of an essay Orwell wrote 1943 called ‘Why Socialists Don’t believe in Fun’ in which he says: “The inability of mankind to imagine happiness except in the form of relief, either from effort or pain, presents Socialists with a serious problem. Dickens can describe a poverty-stricken family tucking into a roast goose, and can make them appear happy; on the other hand, the inhabitants of perfect universes seem to have no spontaneous gaiety and are usually somewhat repulsive into the bargain. But clearly we are not aiming at the kind of world Dickens described,… Read more »
Thank you LittleRichardJohn for such a brilliant and moving comment. You’re absolutely right. THAT IS what motivates people to fight to the bitter end for a socialist future. If most Americans understood what capitalism gives them, and what socialism COULD give them, not only in terms of peace of mind, moral satisfaction, and yes, even a more secure economic life, they’d get rid of this horror in a second. The indoctrination is however—as you know—heavy in this country, and therefore tough to break.
That Orwell quote is invaluable. It should be far better known. It cuts right through all the pedantry and demonisation and prevarication which passes for debate about socialism. It defines why Stalin was not a socialist but a feudalist, and therefore defuses the word ‘socialism’ for a naiive political understanding. Even more defusing is the direct parallel Orwell draws between Christ and Marx. Again in one of his ‘As I Please’ columns for tribune. “Ideas may not change, but emphasis shifts constantly. It could be claimed, for example, that the most important part of Marx’s theory is contained in the… Read more »
The truth about Marx and Marxism in general is the precise opposite of what Americans believe, and it has to be that way from the perspective of the ruling circles. Marx and Marxists “see through their lies”, and they can’t be bribed.
Nice comments, folks.

New Testament, book of Acts, chapter 4, verse 34, through chapter 5, verse 10. As that New Testament narrative CLEARLY proves, the centuries of capitalist influence on church leaders has resulted in today’s modern christian population being duped and conned into believing THE LIE which says that the “Holy Spirit” and “Jesus” are opposed to Socialism. Capitalist influence on church leaders extends all the way back to the 3rd and 4th centuries, when the gospel’s doctrines became the property of the Roman Empire, and when the Empire’s state-supported (tax-exempt) priests and pastors began to take advantage of the fact that… Read more »
