Bravo Jesse! Let’ em have it!
Your message is heard in some quarters, among those who represent the future of this world if the planet manages to survive the American duopoly’s gangster policies.
Meantime—for the millionth time: we need to strengthen OUR media, a shout the left rarely hears. As an example, The Greanville Post has received exactly ZERO donations for the last nine months. Not a single penny. Nada. We mention this not to whine here; we don’t work for the money nor to be admired or appreciated, all of which are naturally welcome, we’re human after all, but to advance thinking in all areas where it desperately matters. So we point this out merely to remind people of a rather despicable fact of life for almost all left publications—print or electronic. Granted, we at TGP loathe the idea of standing there with a tin cup begging for a few dimes, constantly pleading, sending out mails, pestering and what not, and we practically never do, preferring to simply absorb any costs out of our own pockets. But as I say, this is not only a depressing fact afflicting TGP, it afflicts most of the left media. (I’m saying LEFT, not LIBERAL here, as the latter fare substantially better.)

Serious progressives reading the genuinely left media should figure it all out by themselves that these outlets are all under heavy financial stress. Unfortunately, the overwhelming majority never does. Given this reality, we often wonder if anyone cares about what we and others like us do and say in the political blogosphere. Yet if you want to fuck the corporate media, gum up their infernal works, the answer is simple: build the people’s media and turn off the corporate lying platforms, banish them from your consciousness and that of your fellows. Offer them only contempt instead of receptivity, let alone credibility or respect. Build the citizens’ media—while there’s still some space to do so. Do it here or elsewhere, we don’t care. But do it. —PG
