EYE ON THE MEDIA
According to Paul we should be grateful to the Kochs for their enlightened magnanimity!
Apparently to libertarian Rand Paul, Charles and David Koch are avatars of philanthropic statesmanship, the best that humanity can aspire to. Observe how, in the tract below, disseminated without shame by Time Magazine, he waxes almost poetic about the brothers’ excellence. The obsequiousness and mendacity are so thick the whole thing escapes easy description. Among the gems in this paean, we find this: “Unlike many crony capitalists who troll the halls of Congress looking for favors, the Kochs have consistently lobbied against special-interest politics.” The world upside down, once again. And you’ll be forgiven if you go apoplectic on the strength of that single assertion. But here it is, judge for yourselves. Isn’t it wonderful to have a free press? (1)

Idea men
Charles and David Koch are well known for their business success, their generous philanthropic efforts and for their focus on innovation in management. Some also know them for their activism in the political realm. All of these are important contributions to society. What is underappreciated is their passion for freedom and their commitment to ideas. Unlike many crony capitalists who troll the halls of Congress looking for favors, the Kochs have consistently lobbied against special-interest politics.
For decades they have funded institutes that promote ideas, not politics, such as Cato and the Mercatus Center. They have always stood for freedom, equality and opportunity. Consistent with their love of liberty, they have become prominent advocates for criminal-justice reform. The Koch brothers’ investment in freedom-loving think tanks will carry on for generations, reminding all of us that ideas and convictions ultimately trump all else.

(1) This should terminate the blooming love affair of some lefties with Rand Paul, and see the man and his ilk for what they are. About Time Magazine, little needs to be said. Educated readers know it as a longstanding lynchpin in the massive disinformation and sedition machine constructed over the years by corporate power. In any case, one more example of what highly paid editors in the mainstream media publish, mental garbage of the most insidious kind. To say “Shame!” to TIME Magazine for running this rubbish is of course useless, as they don’t know the meaning of the word. Whores in high places never do.
