Steven Argue: Posturing by client-state despots not to be trusted
FACTS AND OPINIONS FROM THE LEFT BLOGOSPHERE
p eds
Even the U.S. imposed death squad government of Colombia, with its U.S. trained, financed, and armed death squads made false anti-imperialist platitudes at times. As they received massive U.S. military aid, they even sometimes used this faux anti-imperialist rhetoric as reason to claim that leftists in North America have no business scrutinizing their chainsaw massacres of unionizing banana workers, endless assassinations of union leaders, complete annihilation of leftist parties, and total slaughters of entire peasant communities.
For these U.S. imperialist sponsored ilk, the rape of children was simply child’s play. Seemingly far more satisfying for them perhaps were eyewitness accounts of them cutting little girls into pieces, bit by bit, while they were still alive. Either enjoying the screams or somehow ignoring them, they would cut off the child’s fingers one by one, hand by hand. toe-by-toe, limb by limb, until the child stopped screaming, passed out from shock, and died of blood loss soon after. Your tax dollars at work.
Why you ask? Well, for starters, these CIA paid, trained, and armed death squads knew that these children from horribly oppressed, brutalized, and exploited communities would inevitably grow-up to be communist guerrillas.
Likewise, the U.S. armed and financed government of Turkey, mostly under the Clinton regime, but now continuing under Obama, has slaughtered 50,000 Kurdish men, women, and children in a war of ethnic cleansing and total annihilation against the oppressed Kurdish people.
[dropcap]A[/dropcap]rmed rebels fighting against these governments are the PKK, FARC, and ELN. To me, the programs of the PKK, FARC, and the ELN are questionable in the facts that they are far too moderate, while I propose the need for authentic revolutionary socialist programs. Yet, without hesitation, I take their side of these people’s’ armies against the murderous U.S. sponsored faux “anti-imperialist” regimes they fight against. Just because some leader is trying to gain some faux anti-imperialist street cred in order to seem legitimate in corners of the world where everyone tires of imperialist wars and exploitation, does not necessarily mean they are anything but the tools of U.S. imperialism they really are. .
