The Best Definition of Donald Trump We Have Found
In his zeal to prove to his antagonists in the War Party that he is as bloodthirsty as their champion, Hillary Clinton, and more manly than Barack Obama, Trump seems to have gone “play-crazy” — acting like an unpredictable maniac in order to terrorize the Russians into forcing some kind of dramatic concessions from their Syrian allies, or risk Armageddon. However, the “play-crazy” gambit can only work when the leader is, in real life, a disciplined and intelligent actor, who knows precisely what actual boundaries must not be crossed. That ain’t Donald Trump — a pitifully shallow and ill-disciplined man, emotionally handicapped by obscene privilege and cognitively crippled by white American chauvinism. By pushing Trump into a corner and demanding that he display his most bellicose self, or be ceaselessly mocked as a “puppet” and minion of Russia, a lesser power, the War Party and its media and clandestine services have created a perfect storm of mayhem that may consume us all.— Glen Ford, Editor in Chief, Black Agenda Report
This does seem to be how the middle class sees things. In reality: Democrats had split apart their voting base in the 1990s, middle class vs. poor, and the Obama years only confirmed that this split is permanent. During the Obama years, much work went into pitting people ( esp. the poor) against each other by race. Years of stereotyping poor and low-income white people in blatantly derogatory terms have left… Read more »
This is not a reply but an independent comment. Dems would rather feed at the trough of the 1% than actually fielding candidates who would improve the conditions of life of the working class and much of the middle class. They’ve demonstrated the latter again and again and are as intent as they were in 2016 to run neoliberal candidates for office in 2018 and they’ve got many, many dopes pushing this drivel. Great article!
One year of Trump has seen activism from people who are outside mainstream parties. Democrats have allowed smooth passage to Trump with some minor ripples. This reflects that both Republicans and Democrats are two sides of the same coin – the only difference is heads and tails! An alternative to these ruling oligarchs must emerge in order to clean US politics
There is no alternative to electoral politics in the US in the way of reform. It assumes that somewhere deep down the system is good but perverted over the years. The only permanent solution is to do away with the system itself and start anew.
No need to be concerned about Trump, Clinton or any number of so-called public servants or the ,00001 % because the general madness (comparable to the ergot poisoning in the European Middle-ages) may make short htriotf os us all and the natural world: https://www.counterpunch.org/2018/01/23/doomsday-panic-in-hawaii
