The rancid stench of Oprah Winfrey sycophancy—CBS This Morning

Self-assured, well-manicured and fussed-over tycoon Oprah—a long way from the Chicago poverty tracks. Horatio Alger in skirts. And black, too. What more could the mind managers want?

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]hy does the establishment keep burning incense at the Oprah altar as a great human being, an exemplar for others to follow? Oprah is a great misleading symbol, like Obama, or Colin Powell in his day. Prominent black faces that serve to legitimate the status quo, the idea that anyone can make it big in America, that racism is receding or largely a thing of the past—both of which are utterly false. As part of the great constellation of identity politics celebrities, and a major Clintonite, part, therefore of a despicable political mafia, Oprah, the multibillionaire star, occupies a central place of honor in the pantheon of Democratic party "influencers".  That's why the honors keep pouring in. The system is fibrillating, its legitimacy shrinking; more people question its foundations every day, while police outrages in the black population are on the rise. That's the context for this revolting sycophancy facilitated by CBS, and obviously it does not hurt that Oprah has her own bosom buddy, Gayle King, as one of the three co-hosts in CBS' flagship morning program.
