The Best Definition of Donald Trump We Have Found
In his zeal to prove to his antagonists in the War Party that he is as bloodthirsty as their champion, Hillary Clinton, and more manly than Barack Obama, Trump seems to have gone “play-crazy” -- acting like an unpredictable maniac in order to terrorize the Russians into forcing some kind of dramatic concessions from their Syrian allies, or risk Armageddon. However, the “play-crazy” gambit can only work when the leader is, in real life, a disciplined and intelligent actor, who knows precisely what actual boundaries must not be crossed. That ain’t Donald Trump -- a pitifully shallow and ill-disciplined man, emotionally handicapped by obscene privilege and cognitively crippled by white American chauvinism. By pushing Trump into a corner and demanding that he display his most bellicose self, or be ceaselessly mocked as a “puppet” and minion of Russia, a lesser power, the War Party and its media and clandestine services have created a perfect storm of mayhem that may consume us all.— Glen Ford, Editor in Chief, Black Agenda Report
This wonderful article is an example of the lost art of writing that suggests so much more than it states, leaving the reader to make the connections to now and here in the U.S. While directly writing about Agnelli, Gaither Stewart evokes all those wealthy liberals who love their children and have the finest manners but whose wealth and work support the system of oppression, economic exploitation, and war that is the American Empire. Bravo! Gaither.

Like most USers, I know little about European political affairs that aren’t archaic histories taught in dry, pro-capitalist, Amerocentric, white-washed history classes. Reading Gaither is like a breath of fresh air. An artist with words, he paints truth in comforting tones that make you not just witness events, but feel immersed in them. As if you were there. A good teacher tells you something. A great teacher makes you hungry for more. I not only read, but googled for an hour during and after the reading of this. “What is a plane tree?” “Fiat strike 1980” “Agnelli” The idea of… Read more »
