Except for two abject vassal states, Latin America may be balking at Washington’s filthy designs for Venezuela

The Venezuelan Crucible
The worst is not always true. The Empire is not succeeding in imposing its designs on Latin American countries. Not even on the OAS, that's why they created the Lima Group. The hetairas like Piñera's Chile, and Duque's Colombia, are finding themselves alone.
Meanwhile Brazil is withdrawing. There is no Triple Alliance: the Yankees failed in their calculations and failed to convince anyone to join an invasion coalition.

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he daily Perfil (1) publishes today a note in which it announces that the Group of Lima is discarding a military action against Venezuela. And the information is good: even though Mike Pence traveled to Colombia and went personally to put pressure on the representatives of the countries that comprise that group, the United States ended up being alone with Colombia and a faded Juan Guaidó and his idea of an alliance of sepoys to spark a fratricidal war in the territory of Venezuela to overthrow Nicolás Maduro and transfer the government to Washington.
The message is clear: if Donald Trump wants the war in Venezuela, then let him go and fight it himself. This is what we and Brazil's Folha de São Paulo were already advancing in a note that went a little unnoticed, but which took account of the opposition of the Brazilian military to a war and an invasion by its troops to its northern neighbor. "Crisis in Venezuela pits the military wing to the Bolsonists in the government," headlined Folha four days ago. And it warned: "(...) The military wing of the government subjected Chancellor Ernesto Araujo to a true lesson in foreign policy. Brazil's military is not about to cut military cooperation with Caracas, a source of information and intelligence, much less yield to US pressures to use Brazilian troops in an attack on Venezuela. "
In this note, worthy of an intelligence service, Folha's chronicler reports that the Brazilian military considers even more serious - the "sin of sins"— says the chronicler - the presence of United States troops in the region. In short, the generals of Brazil cling to their nationalist tradition and not only do they not accept being used by the United States in an invasion and a war against a neighboring country, but they also reject the presence of the US military in South American territory. The calculations of the White House failed, the result of not taking into account the heterogeneity of a government that is not just Bolsonaro. General Hamilton Mourão, the military who is not afraid of speaking his mind, clings to Brazil's military nationalist doctrine designed to shield Brazil's interests versus the interests of the United States.
In fact, the convergence of interests is diminishing. Jair Bolsonaro is right now in his own labyrinth, beset by innumerable corruption scandals about a government that has not yet reached 60 days of life and that promised to come, precisely, to end the "corruption of the Workers' Party." Bolsonaro is a agent of Israel and it is, by extension, and agent of of the Yankees, but not so the military of Brazil who occupy key positions in his government. Apparently, the Yankees did not count on that. Apparently the United States, a country where the military, the CIA and the government usually operate independently of each other, were not able to factor the idea that heterogeneity also exists in countries like Brazil. The Yankees bet heavy on Bolsonaro but it turns out that Bolsonaro is not in a position to fulfill his promises to the Yankees, simply because those with the weapons are not going to play his game.
Jair Bolsonaro is in theory the commander-in-chief of the Brazilian armed forces, but that is only in theory. In practice, for the military, which are very special people, Bolsonaro is a subordinate and a civilian, a retired captain. If the generals see him as a subordinate, they will not comply with his orders; if they see him as a civilian they won't even acknowledge him, because that is how the military proceed in general when the matter is war. Therefore, if Bolsonaro ordered the invasion of Venezuela and the generals did not move, that, in itself, would already be an uprising and a coup d'état, even if the military itself did not formalize it with an official declaration. The government of Bolsonaro would become merely decorative, relapsing power in the military.

It is possible that this uprising and military coup are already in progress or cooking: today's meeting with the Lima Group was not attended by Jair Bolsonaro, but by the vice president, General Hamilton Mourão. Far from indicating the classic "price drop" that usually means the presence of the vp to replace the incumbent, it is clear that the military of Brazil have taken control of the Venezuelan issue and have marginalized Bolsonaro's group from the discussion. Juan Guaidó , Iván Duque and Mike Pence—the three who today were left alone in their war madness against Venezuela. One of the three does not rule any country and Latin America is beginning to think with its own head, to isolate the fools and to leave behind the American ball-busters.
And here is the result: General Mourão read Mike Pence the riot act; told him that Brazil was not willing to do the dirty work of anyone, and all the other countries of the Group—except for Colombia—which at this point has already snatched Chile's dubious distinction as the West's favorite whore—backed off and ruled out invading Venezuela. In a way, what happened there (and the media are not going to say) is that Latin America simply reared up...balked at the Yankees' indecent proposal. Beyond the ideological orientation of each government, it was clear that only the Colombians are willing to be cannon fodder for the interests of the United States in Venezuela.
Now, why? Because in the world there are few fools left like Colombia. Most countries already understood that it is not good business to oppose those who are ascending (China, Russia and India, basically) to remain in the good graces of those on the way down (the United States and the West in general). What is beginning to exist in Latin America is the awareness that US hegemony has already fallen apart and that we are now only seeing the simulacrum of that hegemony. And if China says not to get embroiled in Venezuela because there will be sanctions for those involved, then there is no Mike Pence or Donald Trump able to convince them otherwise.

Without going much further, 27% of Brazil's exports currently go to China, leaving the United States well below with just 11.9%, according to data from the Foreign Trade Index (Icomex), prepared by the Getulio Vargas Foundation, a kind of INDEC in Brazil. The Brazilian military knows perfectly well that this is the case and they are not willing to look for a fight in Beijing just do Washington a favor. Favor that, otherwise, would imply the filth and vileness of entering to kill American brothers to favor the interests of a superpower. More than a quarter of Brazil's exports to China. For much less than that the Brazilian generals scolded Bolsonaro at the beginning of January: barely assumed, Bolsonaro determined the move to Jerusalem of the Brazilian embassy in Israel. In retaliation, the Muslim countries closed the import of meats to Brazil and that is insignificant compared to everything that China buys. The Brazilian military is not willing to please Israel or the United States, or anyone, if that results in damage to the economy of their country.
The truth is in plain sight, although the media hide it and continue insisting on the "imperative need" to overthrow the "bloody tyrant" Nicolás Maduro. The Yankees no longer have the muscle they used to have and again they were wrong in the calculation. Now they have two options: send the Colombians to die on the Venezuelan border at the hands of the FANB and the armed militia, or undertake the invasion with their own marines. Of course, if they do the latter, they are exposed to two major dangers, which are the probable sanctions of China and the collapse of their economy, on the one hand, while not achieving their goal, or getting bogged down and leaving Venezuela humiliated, on the other, as it happened in Vietnam, in Afghanistan, in Iraq and, more recently, in the Crimea and in Syria.
If the Yankees go in and do not manage to leave Venezuela, they will be exposed to their real enemies, which are China and Russia. And if that happens, from the East can come the coup de grace that liquidates the unipolar world order. As in the timba, excessive ambition often leads to losing everything. The glory of the United States was forged in the casino of illegal war and it is natural that it be lost, sooner or later, in that same lawless den.

No siempre lo peor es cierto. El Imperio no logra imponerle sus designios a los países latinoamericanos. Ni siquiera en la OEA, por eso crearon el Grupo de Lima. Las hetairas como el Chile de Piñera y la Colombia de Duque se quedan solas.

El Diario Perfil publica hoy una nota en la que anuncia que el Grupo de Lima descarta una acción militar contra Venezuela. Y la información es buena: pese a que Mike Pence viajó a Colombia y fue personalmente a meter presión sobre los representantes de los países que forman en ese grupo, los Estados Unidos terminaron quedándose solos junto a Colombia y a un desdibujado Juan Guaidó en su idea de una alianza de cipayos para hacer una guerra fratricida en territorio de Venezuela para derrocar a Nicolás Maduro y transferir el gobierno a Washington.
El mensaje es claro: si Donald Trump quiere la guerra en Venezuela, pues que vaya y la haga él mismo.
Esto es lo que ya veníamos adelantando nosotros y el brasileño Folha de São Paulo en una nota que pasó un poco inadvertida, pero que daba cuenta de la oposición de los militares de Brasil a una guerra y una invasión de sus tropas a su vecino del norte. Crisis en Venezuela contrapone el ala militar a los bolsonaristas en el gobierno, titulaba la Folha hace cuatro días. Y avisaba:
“(…) El ala militar del gobierno sometió al canciller Ernesto Araujo a una verdadera tutela. Nada de cortar la cooperación militar con Caracas, fuente de información e inteligencia, y mucho menos ceder a la presión estadounidense por una utilización de tropas brasileñas en una agresión a Venezuela”.
En dicha nota, digna de servicio de inteligencia, el cronista de la Folha informa que los militares brasileños consideran todavía más grave —el “pecado de los pecados”, dice el cronista— la presencia de tropas de los Estados Unidos en la región.
En resumen, los generales de Brasil se aferran a su tradición nacionalista y no solo no aceptan ser utilizados por los Estados Unidos en una invasión y una guerra a un país vecino, sino que además rechazan la presencia de militares estadounidenses en territorio sudamericano. El cálculo de la Casa Blanca falló, resultado de no tener en cuenta la heterogeneidad de un gobierno que no es solo de Bolsonaro.

A decir verdad, lo es cada vez menos. Jair Bolsonaro está ahora mismo en su propio laberinto, acosado por innumerables escándalos de corrupción sobre un gobierno que no cumplió todavía 60 días de vida y que prometía venir, justamente, a terminar con la “corrupción del Partido de los Trabajadores”.
Bolsonaro es un agente de Israel y lo es, por extensión, de los yanquis, pero no así los militares de Brasil que ocupan puestos clave en su gobierno. Al parecer, los yanquis no contaban con eso. Justo los Estados Unidos, un país donde los militares, la CIA y el gobierno suelen operar independientemente unos de otros, no fueron capaces de vez que esa heterogeneidad también existe en países como Brasil. Los yanquis apostaron a Bolsonaro y resulta que Bolsonaro no está en posición de cumplir con los yanquis, simplemente porque los que tienen las armas no van a responder.
Jair Bolsonaro es en teoría el comandante en jefe de las fuerzas armadas de Brasil, pero eso es solo en teoría. En la práctica, para los militares —que son gente muy especial—, Bolsonaro es un subalterno y un civil, un capitán retirado. Si los generales lo ven como un subalterno, no van a acatar sus órdenes; si lo ven como un civil ni lo registran, porque así proceden los militares en general cuando el asunto es guerra. Por lo tanto, si Bolsonaro ordenara la invasión a Venezuela y los generales no se movieran, ahí ya estaría configurada una sublevación y un golpe de Estado, aunque los propios militares no lo formalizaran con una declaración oficial. El gobierno de Bolsonaro pasaría a ser meramente decorativo, recayendo el poder en los militares.
Es posible que esa sublevación y ese golpe militar ya estén en curso o cocinándose: a la reunión de hoy con el Grupo de Lima no asistió Jair Bolsonaro, sino el vicepresidente, el General Hamilton Mourão. Lejos de indicar la clásica “bajada de precio” que suele significar la presencia del vice en reemplazo del titular, queda claro que los militares de Brasil han tomado el control del asunto Venezuela y han marginado de la discusión al grupo de Bolsonaro.
Juan Guaidó, Iván Duque y Mike Pence, los tres que hoy se quedaron solos en su locura bélica contra Venezuela. Uno de los tres no gobierna ningún país y América Latina empieza a pensar con su propia cabeza, a aislar a los tontos y a dejar solos a los jalabolas de Estados Unidos.
He ahí el resultado: el General Mourão “le cantó las cuarenta” a Mike Pence, dijo que Brasil no está dispuesto a hacer el trabajo sucio de nadie y todos los demás países del Grupo —salvo Colombia, que a esta altura ya le arrebató a Chile el lugar de prostituta favorita de Occidente— echaron para atrás y descartaron invadir Venezuela. De cierta forma, lo que pasó allí y los medios no van a decir es que América Latina se les paró de manos a los yanquis. Más allá de la orientación ideológica de cada gobierno, quedó claro que solo los colombianos están dispuestos a ser carne de cañón para los intereses de los Estados Unidos en Venezuela.
Ahora bien, ¿por qué? Porque en el mundo ya quedan pocos tontos como Colombia. La mayoría de los países ya comprendió que no es un buen negocio ponerse en frente a los que ascienden (China, Rusia e India, básicamente) para caerles bien a los que descienden (los Estados Unidos y Occidente en general). Lo que está empezando a existir en América Latina es la conciencia de que la hegemonía estadounidense ya cayó y que estamos viendo la simulación de esa hegemonía. Y si China dice que no se metan en Venezuela porque habrá sanciones para los involucrados, entonces no hay Mike Pence ni Donald Trump capaces de convencer de lo contrario.
Sin ir mucho más lejos, el 27% de las exportaciones de Brasil en la actualidad tiene como destino a China, quedando los Estados Unidos muy por debajo con un 11,9%, según datos del Índice de Comercio Exterior (Icomex), elaborado por la Fundación Getulio Vargas, una suerte de INDEC en Brasil. Los militares de Brasil saben perfectamente que esto es así y no están dispuestos a buscarse una bronca en Beijing por hacerle un favor a Washington. Favor que, por lo demás, implicaría la inmundicia y vileza de entrar a matar hermanos americanos para favorecer los intereses de una potencia.
Más de un cuarto de las exportaciones de Brasil a China. Por mucho menos que eso los generales brasileros regañaron a Bolsonaro a principio de enero: apenas asumido, Bolsonaro determinó la mudanza a Jerusalén de la embajada de Brasil en Israel. En represalia, los países musulmanes cerraron la importación de carnes a Brasil y eso es insignificante comparado con todo lo que compra China. Los militares brasileros no están dispuestos a agradar a Israel ni a los Estados Unidos, ni a nadie, si eso resulta en un daño a la economía de su país.
La verdad está a la vista, aunque los medios la oculten y sigan insistiendo en la “necesidad imperiosa” de derrocar al “tirano sangriento” Nicolás Maduro. Los yanquis ya no tienen el músculo que solían tener y otra vez se equivocaron en el cálculo. Ahora les quedan dos opciones: enviar a los colombianos a morir en la frontera de Venezuela a manos de las FANB y de los milicianos armados, o emprender la invasión con sus propios marines. Claro que, si hacen lo segundo, se exponen a dos grandes peligros, que son las probables sanciones de China y el derrumbe de su economía, por una parte, y no lograr el objetivo, empantanarse y salir humillados de Venezuela, por otra, como pasó en Vietnam, en Afganistán, en Irak y, más recientemente, en Crimea y en Siria.
Si los yanquis entran y no logran salir de Venezuela, quedarán expuestos frente a sus verdaderos enemigos, que son China y Rusia. Y si eso pasa, desde el Este puede venir el tiro de gracia que liquide el orden mundial unipolar. Como en la timba, la ambición desmedida muchas veces conduce a perderlo todo. La gloria de los Estados Unidos se forjó en la timba de la guerra y es natural que se pierda, más temprano que tarde, en esa misma timba.
