Tucker: US came within minutes of war with Iran

While the so-called "left" punditocracy was mostly cheering Trump on for a war with Iran, it took a certifiable rightwinger to speak truth about this heavily propagandised issue.

I'm certain many people on the left —and in the TGP audience—will bristle at the very idea of applauding a Fox News host, one who, among other things, often castigates China from an imperialist standpoint, lavishes praise on Trump, and so on, but consider the situation from a broader perspective.  PractIcally the entire media spectrum in the US and much of the "West" is dominated by out and out warmongering imperialists, with the "left" (centrist-right liberals) often as vicious and bloodthristy as their traditional ideological "opponents" on the right. Anyone watching, listening to, or reading the usual "liberal" press, from the NYTimes to CNN, MSNBC, NPR, PBS, or the whalish American networks, will only hear what the Pentagon and the zioncons want people to hear, which is exceptionalist rubbish justifying more criminal interventions by Washington in the name of the usual false gods trotted out for such purposes: democracy, human rights, yada yada and the rest of the sanctimonious catechism the Empire has perfected over almost 100 years of nonstop propaganda directed first at its own home publc and then spread around the globe. (As we speak, America still has the strongest "softpower" machinery in history, even if this is slowly beginning to change.)

"Bolton is like a tapeworm..."

Now, consider one more aspect distinguishing Carlson: He is the only major media figure able and willing to reach out to and educate—within the permitted parameters—the Trumpite legions. The liberals, complacent in their contempt for "the deplorables", don't even try.  And the real left is too puny to make much of a difference in the immediate sense, which is often when it counts the most, given the velocity of world events these days. In my view, renouncing any effort to reach half of the American population currently justifiably alienated by the cynical liberal pablum, and ceding that bloc to the self-serving lunatic right, is simply beyond irresponsible. It is suicidal.

Thus, the choices confronting Carlson if he wishes to do some good, inject some sanity into the debate, are painfully narrow. It is rumored that he now enjoys direct access to Trump, in today's world, an important gift for someone wishing to steer US policy away from criminal chaos. Would he risk that privilege by offending this preternaturaly thin-skinned reality-averse man while also alienating much of his MAGA audience? It's obvious that Carlson, given his intelligence, could say some truly devastating things about the Donald, things that, probably being true, would be by definition an attack from the left  (the truth and the left's objective analysis are usually congruent)—but what would that gain? Trump's excuse for pulling back from the brink is laughable, to put it charitably. A 150 lives? The figure is ludicrous and completely groundless. The praise for the generals blood-curdling in its Trumpian ineptness. Why not 157? Or 261? Or 15,000? (a bit more credible). And since when did the Washington sociopaths give a rodent's ass about the possible death toll in any of their genocidal adventures? Trump is already under a withering kind of attack, albeit one often completely misguided and so far ineffectual because it is coming from a right perspective. This attack, spearheaded by the CIA-loving Democrats, yea, "the American left", naturally resolves into more calls for war (!) and constant whining about Trump's multitude of infractions of the liberal PC code. None of that has produced so far a documentable impeachable offence, the smoking gun so many clueless liberals dreamed of when placing their hopes on St Mueller. So Carlson, given the overall situation may be well advised to defend his access to the hyper-erratic emperor. But there's another reason:  Carlson, as evidenced in this episode, is just about the only guy around willing to denounce lucidly and bravely the toxic Neocon influence on US policy, naming names, so to speak, while also damning the Israeli lobby, one of the holiest of cows in the US/Western pantheon of false gods, a veritable third rail. That he even dares to do that is important because most Neocons are also an integral part of the Jewish lobby and outright dual Israeli-American citizens, a little fact the presstitutes rarely if ever bring up while frothing at the mouth denouncing Russian meddling in our virtually non-existent democracy.

The last consideration is perhaps the most obvious: If Carlson offended the Donald, and lost his audience, who would defend him from being unceremoniously sacked by Murdoch and his gang of merry pirates?

So, yea, this is a "highwire performance" by Tucker Carlson. I hope you see it that way, and appreciate the good he did here.
