Yes, many in Carlson's audience already discount the moral or professional integrity of the smug liberal media constellation—after all Trump has (for his own narrow reasons but accurately) called them "Fake News"—but Greenwald's denunciations of the corporate press also extend to the role of US intel agencies, which is no-no territory for many rightwingers, even if some are now aware of spooks' efforts to cripple or overthrow the Trump regime. The CIA set out to sabotage the Trump administration, says Greenwald, because Trump questioned just a few of their pieties, and that is not to be tolerated in Washington. "Whoever does that, must be destroyed." What's more, the Democrats and liberals, who once opposed war and foreign interventions, are now in bed with the Pentagon and intelligence agencies, cheering such criminal policies.
