Chris Hedges interviews May Jeong

The roots trace all the way back to anti-chinese prejudice and hatreds in the 19th century, often culminating in massacres of Chinese people, discriminatory laws, and later the expansion of US imperialism throughout Asia, with its military culture of bases surrounded by bars, massage parlors, and sex and drugs establishments. Entire regions and even countries —Philippines, Vietnam, Korea—have been turned into whorehouses to service the mllions of sex-hungry young GIs, and now Thailand, too, has become the choice destination for sex "tourists" from Europe, America, and other richer nations.

On the show this week, Chris Hedges discusses with journalist and writer May Jeong the deep American roots of the Atlanta shootings. May Jeong's op-ed The Deep American Roots of the Atlanta Shootings - The victims lived at the nexus of race, gender and class, was published in The New York Times on March 19, 2021. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/19/op... Jeong is a writer at Vanity Fair and an Alicia Patterson fellow. She is working on a book about sex work. #QuestionMore #RTAmerica Get exclusive content and watch full episodes now by downloading the Portable.TV app: https://bit.ly/DownloadPortable
