Canadian doctors speak out on Covid

While the Covid emergency has detonated a fair number of scatter-brained conspiracies on the [illiterate] left and the right, many highly respectable observers of reality have voiced alarms and objections to the manner in which this global phenomenon has been handled, from its putative origins in China to its manipulation in Europe and the United States, where neoliberalism certainly showed its colors by proving that the capitalist elites are in no way overly concerned about the welfare of the populations under their control. From the very beginning, controversy has hovered around a number of questions:

1. Is this a real global pandemic and if it is where did it come from? Is the main vector a naturally occurring organism or a man-made germ?

2. Is Covid-19 a really serious health threat justifying the draconian measures taken in many countries? (Lockdowns, mask-wearing, distancing, etc.)

3. How contagious is it really and which groups are most vulnerable and why? 

4. Assuming the Covid-19 pandemic to be real, is it also being exploited by some powerful parties for their own economic and political benefit?

5. Does the Covid risk justify mass "vaccination" with the current crop of tentative vaccines, and if so, is there a qualitative difference between these vaccines? 

6. Are these opinions merely an inevitable offshoot of libertarian ideology also found among physicians?

There are other questions meriting attention but those seem to be the main ones. To date, humanity is deeply divided about these subjects. There is clearly no global consensus on what and where Covid-19 came from.  Nor are many difficult scientific aspects of this crisis known nor satisfactorily resolved to set appropriate policy.  Furthermore, the rapid and dramatic erosion of trust and legitimacy in governing elites and their principal means of reaching the public—that is the mainstream media and establishment politicians—has created its own parallel global crisis, and it's clear the ruling elites are responding by taking extensive measures to tighten control over governing bodies and institute an iron-clad regime of narrative control hat many would characterise as a form of crypto-fascism. As usual, it is the United States centralized empire that leads the way in this effort, but the results so far appear uneven and problematic at best. For one thing, the US, as a political entity increasingly hemorrhaging stability and credibility, is no longer able to function efficiently, domestically or internationally.  Its power to influence events in many latitudes, while still considerable, has declined. The current image projected is one of a musclebound colossus flailing about like a drunk, or worse, like someone deranged, with no rational or consistent posture on any of the major areas a great power needs to operate.  The regime faces enormous stresses, in large measure self-inflicted by its elites' hubristic exceptionalist culture, massive and entrenched ignorance about the real world, disregard for the well-being of the masses, overconfidence in the wiles of consciousness manipulation, and perhaps gravest of all, the inevitable degeneracy of the economic model they embrace so fanatically: neoliberalism, a mere euphemism for an advanced form of belligerent global imperialism brooking no competitors of any kind. Say imperialism, of course, and you are saying capitalism on steroids, and capitalism is the problem. For, in the simplest terms possible,  capitalism has always been and remains a sick system to organize society around. Semi-feudal in its propensity to class inequality, its political and economic DNA are fraught with unsolvable contradictions and absurdities, of which the legendary "overproduction" contradiction already identified by Marx and Engels almost 200 years ago, constitutes in the age of computerised automation, its most intolerable characteristic. So this is more or less the backdrop to this global debate. Let's see what these doctors have to say. YouTube and other establishment platforms denied them access on some ludicrous grounds, but, folks, this is hardly the time to be skimping on the First Amendment. So let all cogent and qualified voices be heard. —PG
