Editor's Note: Using its formidable mass communications power for hybrid war, the West, led by the US, has blanketed the media with a highly adulterated version of events in Ukraine, chiefly hiding and denying the historical context that explains everything, starting with the origins of this war, a conflict which, not surprisingly, points an accusatory finger at decades of bad faith and warmongering on the part of Washington and its NATO puppet. As part of this colossal psyop, Russian media like RT and Sputnik have been vilified and shut down, while many dissident voices throughout the West have also been silenced via social media censorship or judicially threatened, as the case of former Canadian diplomat Patrick Armstrong illustrates. Apparently, Armstrong—a thoughtful and impartial observer—not too long ago received a visit from the CSIS (the Canadian FBI) who warned him outright not to publish any more articles on Russia in general, or with Strategic Culture Foundation (SCF), an independent Russian website that welcomes anti-imperialist writers. Shaken, Armstrong who as a Canadian did not expect his basic right to free speech to be summarily taken, was honest enough to tell about this event:
I am going to pause this site and my other activities for a while until I see how things break out. What was a post-retirement hobby – a continuation of my job of trying to figure out what was happening in Russia – has now led to accusations of being a Russian agent of disinformation. Deviation from the approved narrative is to risk, at best, being accused of sowing disinformation and, at worst, of treason. I’m too old for this. (Russia Observer, Hiatus, March 8, 2022)
Under such circumstances, and with the risk of an even wider and far more lethal war growing by the day, we feel it is our duty to present as many views of this tragic event as possible, including official Russian Defense Ministry briefings. You, the reader, must continue your research, become sophisticated in detecting media-government lies, and reach your own conclusions. Examine the history closely and ask yourself who benefits from such and such event. Do not accept cheap demonisation of any historical figure. Of course avoid, as much as possible, establishment writers and historians, not to mention fake leftists, Trots, anarchists, and of course liberals, unless you don't mind being continually brainwashed. For basic orientation, check out websites and sources that carry a verifiable non-corporate, non-state dept, anti-imperialist point of view. Get your education before these sites, too, get struck down:
