Max Parry joins the Blowback roundtable to discuss the upcoming NATO summit. The panel also discusses controversial topics such as the emergence of the LGBQT movement as a factor in politics, and their cynical use by the establishment to kill class struggle politics in favor of individualist concerns and a spurious advanced position in terms of human rights. Other difficult issues is the bigotry exhibited by many against migrants, which some on the "left" characterise as a form of fascism, but which others merely define as plain old social conservatism, part of the hard-right general posture, which by default includes nativism. The dilemma —where to draw the line—is exemplified by people like Tucker Carlson and Col. Douglas Macgregor. Both Carlson and Macgregor represent invaluable sensible and truthful opinion on the Ukraine War at this critical moment where the establishment has erected a virtually totalitarian narrative about global reality, yet they also show a great deal of bigotry toward migrants and other minorities, along with much historical ignorance about socialism, especially the history of the Soviet Union. (Macgregor was after all a military advisor to Trump).
This defect makes them liable to repeat old anti-communist shibboleths such as the old lie about Stalin's "deliberate starvation" of millions in Ukraine (Holodomor). The panel also delves into the question of whether or not we are witnessing a rapid rise in neofascism in the US and around the world, or simply a massive socially conservative reaction to the attacks and constant cultural meddling of an aggressive and repulsively hypocritical WOKE imperialism. The absence of a true left probably makes the rise of the right in all its shades and colors a much harder and more complicated process.
