Would anybody in the genuine Left be so kind as to explain what Mr. S.R. is referring to, starting at about 7:40 ? Was USSR not sanctioned enough ? Was USSR even more dependent on energy exports (and so on) ?
Would anybody explain why is Mr. S.R. so enthusiastic about Democracy (only to turn around and say „we’re ignorant”), when giving power to the masses means giving them the chance to vote against themselves, and while none of the big fans of Democracy utter a peep about schooling the masses ?
What emerges is the fact that the US has become highly irrelevant. Its only significance is the threat of its over-abundant military resources. Fear, not admiration, is what determines other people’s view of the States. One never knows if another H-bomb may appear on the scene to show the US’s preponderance. Ritter mentions the ‘Russian ‘soul’, as expressed in its many cultural products from the novel “War and Peace” to Shostakovich’s music in “Aleksandr Nevski”.
