The panel discusses the role of alternate media voices, and memorialises the loss of John Pilger, one of the most dedicated anti-imperialist journalists and political documentarians of our time. US documentarian and antiwar activist Regis Tremblay speaks about his own radicalisation, his friendship and collaboration with John Pilger, his film exposés (The Ghosts of Jeju, Who Are the Russians & Why Do We Hate Them, et al), and his eventual relocation to Crimea, Russia. It should be noted that US social media platforms, especially Facebook and Google (YouTube), are working hard to censor Roger's films. The monopolistic media corporations reduce the circulation and probably shadowban Tremblay's documentaries by placing hypocritical cards and "qualifications" in front of the films designed to make it hard for viewers to access the films. The cards are supposedly there to "protect" the "fragile" viewers from exposure to "shocking" images. The hypocrisy of the US establishment is simply repugnant, but, unfortunately, it still fools far too many people.
In this interview I talk to the filmmaker and US citizen Regis Tremblay about his films and why he moved from the USA to Crimea in 2020. How is life in the Crimea ? What is he doing there and how is he living with the sanctions against the peninsula ?
