Many of the problems afflicting people living under finance capitalism are ridiculously easy to solve, provided you remove the artificial obstacles and deformations benefiting the big property owners. In the West, today's citadel of world capitalism, these tiny elites, concentrated in the leading powers—US, UK, France, Germany, etc.—comprise no more than 0.00001% of the population. Yes, no more than one in 100,000 individuals is sitting at the top of the economic/political pyramid making decisions affecting the rest of the world. Think about it. How can this blatantly oligarchic system be called a democracy? How can this be? One answer is that they have an active, virulently committed level of the population—no more than 3-5%—subscribing to their values and, in practice, running the empire. These are the people we get to "see" as our "leaders" and various authority figures and cultural leaders. They are members of the political and media classes; the Hollywood "distraction industry"; the police and judiciary; the military; academia, the church; and the top PMCs ("professional-managerial class"). In addition, another 5 to 15% (or more in some countries, depending on specific conditions and cultural norms)—supplies the raw muscle, the repressive power, to sustain the system during legitimacy crises, which may be serious and long-lasting, or brief, spontaneous outbursts with no effective ideological component. This whole power pyramid is supported and justified through an enormous, deeply entrenched, and elaborate mind manipulation machinery—the ideological component of the system—which sells the masses the erroneous, self-harming vision of reality that keeps them passive, disoriented, pessimistic, divided, (fighting among themselves), and in general disorganised and incapable of fighting back, that is, mounting an effective class self-defence. Above all, the system tries hard to keep the people stupid. In this, they can sometimes succeed beyond their expectations. While Disney pumps out one fantasy vehicle after another, deepening the alarming infantilism gripping the American public, the "sports drug" does its part to keep the masses—at a time of urgent, multidimensional, world crisis—wrapped up in bloated, ludicrously irrelevant events. Anyone who watched for a minute the recent revolting and wholly manufactured mass hysteria over the NFL "draft" —an insultingly idiotic, over-the-top spectacle disseminated via the US top TV networks, and which captured hundreds of millions of viewers during its absurdly long proceedings—will probably be dismayed by the ostensible state of the American working class.

All of that can change, of course, and fast. A military disaster, a major war, an economic implosion that could really throw hundreds of millions out of their homes and jobs in a matter of months, an instance of gross political miscalculation—any of these could ring the death knell for an incurably sick capitalism. It's worth remembering that such events are actually immanent in the current globalist system—hardwired and inevitable. So, yes. The system looks formidable to the casual observer, but its toxic contradictions, for which its managers, no matter how devious and resourceful, will never find a cure, are constantly pushing the system to the edge. Infused with a criminal ideology, imperialism is a flawed, perverse and irrational way of organising society. Its leaders are—perforce—hypocrites and sociopaths, capable of any crime, as the Ukraine War and Gaza amply prove, not to mention their deliberate drift to ever-wider war and fascism.  It can't hide its true face forever.

Such a system arouses resistance, as it should. History offers many examples of how the working class has organised itself to fight back, with varying results, from victory to counter-revolution, the latter usually brutal periods of repression in which the challenged ruling class has attempted to intimidate and destroy the working class. Today, as the utterly rotten British ruling class tries to keep its attention on saving the global imperialist system under the aegis of the American hegemon, all while shifting the cumulative cost of capitalism on the working class, some sectors are moving forward with their own blueprints for social reconstruction. Below we have the pleasure of introducing our audience to the work of the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist). They proclaim (and we agree):

Ordinary people in Britain have everything to gain by getting involved in this process sooner rather than later. This world isn’t working for us and we deserve better!

Not only do we need to campaign against the bad conditions and lack of prospects for working-class people in Britain today, but we need to work for a completely different type of society – one where people’s needs decide everything.

So many problems face this world: environmental catastrophe, poverty, disease, racism and war. They’ll never be solved while capitalism remains, but they could all be sorted if society was set up for the benefit of the majority rather than the private gain of a few billionaires.

Our party is different because we consistently apply Marxist science to all areas of our work, and we’re not scared to tell it how it is. We refuse to be intimidated by the barrage of lying propaganda that fills Britain’s mainstream media. It is the capitalists’ job to try to stop us from building a socialist society; it is our job to do it anyway!

Challenge your ideas — challenge their propaganda — seek the truth — serve the people — change the world!

Plus Joti Brar interviewed by Garland NIxon—a MUST watch.

Gaza, inflation, Assange … Where are the trade unions?

While crime after crime is committed against the people, those who should be organising the resistance are doing nothing. An excerpt:

The CPGB-ML highlights this most important of questions while pointing to the answers in a leaflet our comrades will take to workers on this upcoming May Day celebration.

"Change is coming and another world is not only possible but necessary.
Workers in Britain must organise themselves to be part of that change, and tomake sure it comes sooner rather than later. Every day that imperialism continues to exist is a day when people die unnecessarily from war and from poverty. It is another day when the rich get richer while the poor get poorer.

Workers have nothing to gain from helping this state of affairs to continue and everything to gain from its end. We need to join our struggle for a decent life at home with the freedom struggle of the oppressed abroad into a mighty torrent that will end the bloodstained era of capitalist-imperialist superexploitation for good.

Capitalism isn’t working.
Fight for socialism!"

Things to keep in mind...

Neo-Nazi ideology has become one of the main protagonists of political and social life in Ukraine since the 2014 coup d'état. Meanwhile, fascist ideology and blatant lies also permeate the consciousness of most people in the West. Those in the comfortable top 10%, the "PMCs" (Professional Managerial Class), are especially vulnerable. They support and disseminate such ideas. They are the executors of the actual ruling class' orders, those in the 0.001%, who remain largely invisible. The PMCs are the political class, the media whores, the top military brass, some people in academia, and the "national security/foreign policy" industry honchos. Push back against these unethical, contaminated people with the truth while you can.

Brar is brilliant. The most important item in the British communist manifest is ‘The end of subsidies (‘of public funds’) to banks and monopoly corporations’. That is the noose that the vested interests (who will compete to the death) hold over society. It is pure blackmail, and it subdues the government to the status of being a court jester. The power of the establishment is also supported by the subsidies to the Pentagon, by claiming that the very secure territories of the US are threatened by factionary enemies. Presently of course the big lie is that it is the internal… Read more »
