I did several interviews today, but I am only posting the roundtable with Judge Napolitano and Ray McGovern and my chat with Ania, which contains a segment on Argentina.

The descent of the United States into an authoritarian state intent on controlling speech and punishing political opponents kicked off our conversation with the Judge. I think the Israeli/Zionist movement is in trouble. According to Haaretz, reports that the International Criminal Court is preparing indictments against Netanyahu and two of his government ministers has set off a panic in the Israeli Government and is forcing some changes in the conduct of the genocidal operation in Gaza:

Whether or not the arrest warrants materialize, they have already had an effect. It is impossible to detach them from the postponement of any move to start the evacuation of Palestinian civilians as a prelude to the Rafah operation, and the sudden willingness of Netanyahu to accept an Egyptian proposal for a hostage agreement that will include the restoration of freedom of movement in Gaza and, more than anything else, the increasingly open actions by Israel to restore supply lines into Gaza after long months of obstruction.

Israeli officials admit that these are now directly connected to the government’s urgent efforts to fend off arrest warrants.

It’s part of a wider trend of belated realization that the costs of this war on the international front could become intolerable, whether for Israel as a country or for certain Israeli individuals. And while many, perhaps even a majority, of Israelis don’t particularly care if Netanyahu (and Mrs. Netanyahu) might have to give up his penchant for state-funded travel overseas, this isn’t just about him.

I think this is one reason Israel has delayed, if not postponed, its previously announced plan to launch a major cleansing of Rafah.

Along with the specter of ICC arrest warrants, Israel is becoming more isolated diplomatically and economically. Colombia, which traditionally has sided with Israel has broken off relations. Turkey’s Erdogan has now put some meat into his previously empty bombast by suspending trade with Israel. I think oil is still flowing, but that supply could be stopped if Israel goes forward with the Rafah operation.

One topic that the Israeli media is ignoring is the economic pain Israel is suffering as a result of its Gaza campaign. The workforce has been savaged because Palestinian workers are no longer allowed in Israel and Israeli reservists are on active duty instead of doing their civilian jobs. This is all just a reminder that war is not just about killing the “enemy.” There are political and economic considerations as well and Israel has made a mess of those. The global student protests against Israel’s slaughter of Palestinian civilians are gaining traction. It is not confined to the United States.

The chat with Ania took an unexpected but welcomed turn when she asked me about Argentina. While it has been more than 20 years since my last visit to Buenos Aires and Cordoba, the economic chaos that has saddled Argentina for the last 40 years continues. I am particularly amused by President Javier Millei’s reported request to have Argentina join NATO. What a chiste (joke in Spanish)! Last I checked, the Argentine people still insist that Las Malvinas Son Nuestras (i.e., the Falkland Islands are ours). Perhaps Millei does not realize that the United Kingdom still claims the Falklands as its sovereign territory and also happens to be part of NATO. I do not anticipate any enthusiasm on the part of the Brits to welcome the diminutive Argentine leader into the NATO club anytime soon.

Meanwhile, in Ukraine, the Russians are advancing and bombing the daylights out of Ukrainian command centers, power plants and military storage facilities. And Western leaders, especially the Brits and the French, are becoming more shrill and desperate with each passing day. Britain’s goof of a Foreign Minister put his foot deep inside his mouth today with his reckless call for Ukraine to attack inside Russia with British Storm Shadow missiles. That’s real smart. Commit an overt act of war against Russia and expect the Russians to do nothing? As they say in the southern states of the United States, that dog won’t hunt.

Things to keep in mind...

Neo-Nazi ideology has become one of the main protagonists of political and social life in Ukraine since the 2014 coup d'état. Meanwhile, fascist ideology and blatant lies also permeate the consciousness of most people in the West. Those in the comfortable top 10%, the "PMCs" (Professional Managerial Class), are especially vulnerable. They support and disseminate such ideas. They are the executors of the actual ruling class' orders, those in the 0.001%, who remain largely invisible. The PMCs are the political class, the media whores, the top military brass, some people in academia, and the "national security/foreign policy" industry honchos. Push back against these unethical, contaminated people with the truth while you can.
