Harpal Brar, Chairman of the CPGB-ML speaks at the international BBQ held in Saklatvala Hall, Southall, on 30 July 2011.
The event celebrated the 58th anniversary both of the DPRK’s victory in the fatherland liberation war (25 June 1950 — 27 July 1953), which marked the first defeat of US imperialism, and of the storming of the Moncada barracks, by Cuban revolutionaries led by Fidel Castro, on 26 July 1953. The latter signaled the start of the Cuban revolution and gave its name to the Cuban revolutionary guerilla movement (M 26-7).
Cde Harpal outlines the achievements of these two revolutions, emphasizing the importance of proletarian internationalism as the key ingredient to successful anti-imperialist struggle. He updates us on the current situation in these countries and touches on the practical lessons we should draw from their examples when building our movement for the liberation of workers here in Britain.
