PATRICK WALKER—To reiterate that convergence of leftist opinion (with some slight change), I’d like to single out (among many worthy possibilities) two leftist intellectuals whose analysis is especially pertinent to my case, Anthony Monteiro and Naomi Klein. While Monteiro’s podcast is the same I referenced in my “Meet Swampzilla” piece, the “some slight change” refers to my now citing a Klein article closely related to, but somewhat different from, the one I linked to there. My reasoning for the change is that the Klein piece now cited more directly and squarely places blame on the Democratic Party—where it rightfully belongs—for Trump and his “nightmare” regime.

The Best Definition of Donald Trump We Have Found
In his zeal to prove to his antagonists in the War Party that he is as bloodthirsty as their champion, Hillary Clinton, and more manly than Barack Obama, Trump seems to have gone “play-crazy” -- acting like an unpredictable maniac in order to terrorize the Russians into forcing some kind of dramatic concessions from their Syrian allies, or risk Armageddon. However, the “play-crazy” gambit can only work when the leader is, in real life, a disciplined and intelligent actor, who knows precisely what actual boundaries must not be crossed. That ain’t Donald Trump -- a pitifully shallow and ill-disciplined man, emotionally handicapped by obscene privilege and cognitively crippled by white American chauvinism. By pushing Trump into a corner and demanding that he display his most bellicose self, or be ceaselessly mocked as a “puppet” and minion of Russia, a lesser power, the War Party and its media and clandestine services have created a perfect storm of mayhem that may consume us all.— Glen Ford, Editor in Chief, Black Agenda Report
Yes, been working on that “peaceful revolution” for decades now — planning out the strategies, talking about the organizing, and launching the fund-raising campaigns. We’ve heard the same talks, revised, updated, with each administration over the past half-century. But let’s be real. If we had a revolution, who would fight whom, and for what? Many believed that the years of the Obama administration represented our last chance to begin building a legitimately progressive movement, needed to push back against the hard right. It didn’t work. Those who are not on the right wing are more split apart, pitted against each… Read more »
It would be nice for once if you discussed the CONTENT of an article rather than simply using it as an excuse to dig into your endless font of naysaying. I’ve yet to hear you EVER offer a solution. Or engage in a constructive way with someone else’s . If sharing your negative “wisdom” means so much to you, stop commenting and try writing a well-researched 2,300-word article. Maybe then you’ll realize what a drag it is to have ideas you’ve sweated over summarily dismissed without the least examination or engagement.
Obviously, comment posts are intended to be quite brief, and preferably simple — not in-depth analyses of articles. Such comments tend to be dismissed as long-winded, etc. Either way, the point of comments should be the ideas conveyed, not one’s writing style. That said, and for what it’s worth, I think this is an exceptionally outstanding and perceptive article, and I take it for granted that most readers (even if they disagree with some of the points) would agree. You hit the proverbial nail on the head on point after point, each of which is deserving of individual discussions. I… Read more »
Patrick Walker again rallies the U.S. public to join the front lines and initiate real change with a real revolution. This is a breathtakingly ambitious venture. But how can anyone resist? We the people are INDISPENSABLE! That is the bottom line. With this article, the previous Swampzilla piece, and Part II of Swampzilla coming up soon, I don’t see how we can fail.
