Mark Zuckerberg’s complaint box is filling up. The billionaire founder of FaceBook is behaving as destructively as other sociopaths who hoard vast riches while others starve and die for lack of medical care. And people are letting him know how they feel about it.
Zuckerberg’s new advocacy group FWD.us is running TV ads in support of the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline and oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. A petition asks him to stop. The comments that people are leaving on the petition ask him to do a number of other things I won’t repeat. You’ll never guess what they’ve found that rhymes with Zuck.
FWD.us is a group of plutocrats who, instead of advocating for education funding, are advocating for the immigration of educated workers. And in order to win over certain members of Congress on immigration policy, FWD.us has funded two front groups, one for Republicans and one for Democrats. Both are buying TV ads supporting Congress members who support tar sands and drilling in ANWR.
Pressure is building from the backlash, and two tech executives have just quit FWD.us in protest. To continue to build momentum, check out the comments below and add your own:
“Integrity goes a long way — longer then any pipelines.”
“How can you live with your billions and support something like this?”
“If you think this pipeline is a good idea, you need to visit the Arkansas spill, see the damage done, & maybe buy everyone affected a new house in a clean environment.
“What? REALLY?? May I suggest that you visit Arkansas….”
“Yes, what is this about – are you kidding me? This is the earth where we live that is going to be damaged.”
“Are you out of your mind, supporting tar sands? Get a grip and a clue or we’ll start a mass exodus from FB and bring you down! This is unacceptable and boycott-able.”
“Stop talking about subjects you don’t understand.”
“Back to MySpace — or whatever is next — GOODBYE FACEBOOK! Shame on you, Zuckerberg!!”
“Only greedy creeps push the tar sands.”
“F— THE ZUCK!
“You did a great thing with creating Facebook, however, that doesn’t qualify you to be making big decisions for the rest of us.”
“After reading about this, I’m seriously considering divesting my 1500 shares of stock in Facebook.”
“So after we get all that nasty sludge you think we should burn it up and put more crap in the atmosphere? Are you insane or suicidal? Maybe just greedy.”
“Please don’t share the destruction of our climate! Unlike.”
“I’ll be avoiding facebook until I hear that you’ve had a change of heart.”
“Zuck, your billions don’t make you God!
“Mark Zuckerberg, your young voice should not be speaking for our common destruction; has your wealth turned you plumb crazy? Has cash power corrupted you utterly? Wake up young man!”
“I have an 11 year old daughter. I put her, and the planet ahead of my business and personal profits. Wish you had the same concerns. I’m about to cancel my Facebook page.”
“Go back to school and learn how to respect the earth and life!”

Mark Zuckerberg is more than a mere sociopath. He has added personally killing animals to his resume, which bumps him up to the level of psychopath: “Mark Zuckerberg has begun personally slaying animals for food, part of a resolution to fully appreciate the meat he eats. The Facebook CEO’s slaughter has been wide ranging, claiming a goat, pig, chicken and a lobster. “He cut the throat of the goat with a knife, ” Zuckerberg pal Jesse Cool told Fortune, “which is the most kind way to do it.” Zuckerberg said he’s trying, throughout 2011, to be fully thankful for the… Read more »
Mark, Zuckerberg, founder of facebook, is a billionaire, yet he feels compelled to kill harmless animals himself in order to fully experience all his ‘god-given’ right to indulge in man’s dominion over the animals: “The only meat I’m eating is from animals I’ve killed myself,” Mark Zuckerberg With sufficient wealth to consume the healthiest possible vegetarian/vegan diet Mark Zuckerberg has chosen instead to indulge in gratuitous violence. He has chosen to explore his curiosity to experience the act of killing. One would hope that instead of wondering how it feels to kill a fully sentient being, he would have reflected… Read more »
What a perfect example of Orwell’s novel, “Animal Farm” fable, where a critter’s “farm view” takes a 180 when he enters the Farmer Joneses house and leaves, not only the barn, but his morale guide to that of the farmer who only views his animals as an exploitable commodity. Zuckerman is analogous to that pig’s evolution from eating at the trough to being a fellow conspirator to make dinners of his former friends. Such a predictable story of the nouve riche, who shed their humanity, social conscious (if they ever had one…) once their bank account soars into the stratosphere.… Read more »
Mary, You make a good point with the analogy between Zuckerberg and the Orwellian farm: ‘the farmer who only views his animals as an exploitable commodity…” Needless to say, the legitimization of animals as exploitable property was first codified 5000 years ago. A more humane view of animals, such as that found in the ahimsa religions… is a more sound basis for environmental policy as well: “If thinking to gain praise, honor or respect,…a man who sins against earth or causes or permits others to do so…he will not gain joy or wisdom…tyrany to the earth is like striking ,… Read more »
Ruth, My analogy was not in regards to animal rights, but rather it was to the analogy that Orwell intended in his novel. The loss of humanity that the elitist so often exhibit when they join the ranks of the 1%, oppressively wealthy. To bring another motive to the analogy, fogs the truth he intended. I find often you use any issue to attack your pet, limitless hatreds. Sad, that anyone is so marinated in their angst riddled crusades that they loose all perspective and tie any issue to those often bogus discussions. By so doing, they aren’t able to… Read more »
Unquestioning faith and the inability to consider evidence of whether that faith may be justified, are often the hallmark of chauvinism, possibly bordering on fascism. I am in constant contact with animal activists who have had to reevaluate their faith based on the evidence they see before them. The following was received from a questioning animal activist, a former christian: “A note to all happy families gathering around tables with a centerpiece of a murdered innocent – enjoy. Apparently God thought no more of his “only begotten son” than a piece of meat – for, after all, he had his… Read more »
