PATRICE GREANVILLE—Those directly responsible for the on-screen disinformers at CBS, and therefore for this show in particular as part of a deliberate campaign to defame the Syrian government and meet the requirements for aggression by the US military, are clearly guilty of some of the most serious crimes in the judicial lexicon.

MOON OF ALABAMA—The picture of Putin as meddling octopus attacking democracies is of course dumb nonsense. There is no evidence that the Russian government was in any way involved in the U.S. election. The French and the German government have repudiated claims of “Russian hacking” in their countries’ elections. The one country that meddles everywhere and destroys democracies left and right is of course the United States.

GODFREE ROBERTS—The official view of the current level of economic development in Chinese society is that it has just reached the xiaokang level. It is hoped that by the centenary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party (2021), China will have reached a “higher level of xiaokang society,” and by the centenary of the establishment of the People’s Republic of China (2049), it will have reached the level of a middle-level developed country and will have “basically completed its modernization”. Thus the term xiaokang, which dates back more than two millennia ago to Liyun, is still being used today to refer to the second-best level of development.
