NATO AND ISRAEL HURTLING TOWARDS WARS OF SELF-DESTRUCTION

I am not Chicken Little aka Henny Penny — “a little chicken convinced that the sky is falling and that life as we, or at least as chickens know it, is over.” So, when I write that the world sits on the precipice of disaster as the West continues to promote war as a solution to Russia, China, Iran and the Palestinians, I am not hyping for the sake of getting attention. I hope for the sake of your children and grand children that I am wrong, but the escalating bellicose rhetoric in the United States, Europe and Israel signals that our future is filled with the potential for horrific destruction not seen since the end of World War II.

Clayton Morris and I discussed the latest developments with NATO on Monday afternoon — the video was posted yesterday. There have been a couple of developments that are sending mixed signals. First, the United States is trying to create an obstacle for Donald Trump — assuming he wins the Presidency — if he acts on his promise to bring an end to the war in Ukraine:

NATO countries are set to sign off on a new plan for the alliance to take over from the U.S. in coordinating military aid to Ukraine.

The shift is broadly perceived as a move by European allies to “Trump-proof” the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, given the possibility that former U.S. President Donald Trump could return to the White House in November elections. Trump is seen as likely to roll back U.S. commitments to Kyiv.

On the surface, this appears like the United States is backing away from Ukraine. But that is not the case. It is reported that the current commander of the U.S. European Command (EUCOM), General Cavoli, is going to be replaced and he will takeover as NATO Commander of the military aid program. In other words, the U.S. will be using NATO as a fig leaf, but will continue to call the shots.

Second, a more alarming development came in Sweden yesterday, 18 June, with the Swedish parliament giving the green-light to turn Sweden into a U.S. aircraft carrier:

Swedish lawmakers on Tuesday, June 18, adopted a controversial defense deal with the United States, which critics fear could lead to the deployment of nuclear weapons and permanent US bases in the country.

The Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) is a major step for a nation that in March ended two centuries of military non-alliance to join NATO.

The Swedish Parliament: Another warehouse filled to the brim with sellouts, cowards, and suicidal imbeciles.  "Kyss mig, jag är dum" (Wiki)

Signed by Stockholm and Washington in December, the deal gives the US access to 17 military bases and training areas in Sweden, and allows the storage of weapons, military equipment and ammunition.

Sweden, in accepting this deal, has made itself a primary target of Russia. This is akin to Cuba signing a deal with Russia to bring Russian nukes to Cuba and grant Russian forces access to Cuban military bases. This is suicidal. It is the Cuban Missile Crisis 2.0, only on steroids. This is an act of brazen provocation by the West, and we should not be shocked when Russia responds forcefully to prevent the U.S. from placing nuclear weapons intended for use against Russia on Swedish territory. Just one more flash point in an already tense world.

Then there is Israel. Over the weekend, Netanyahu dissolved the six-member war cabinet, which included members of the opposition party. Unlike the United States, where the President is the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, this power resides in the cabinet in Israel. This means that Netanyahu’s original cabinet — with bona fide terrorist crazies like Smotrich and Ben Gvir in place — has made Israel more likely to take reckless, foolish military actions, such as invading southern Lebanon.

Doug MacGregor, during an hour-long chat with Danny Davis today, raised the specter of Israel using tactical nukes against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon. I think he is right. Here is the relevant portion of that podcast.

The only way to put the brakes on this — barring a devastating preemptive attack by Hezbollah on key Israeli military and nuclear sites — is for the U.S. to suspend all aid to Israel until it comes to its senses. I think that is highly unlikely, which means that the Zionists surrounding Netanyahu are prepared to initiate a new offensive, which will set the Middle East on fire.

St. Petersburg Church (Larry Johnson)

I was shocked to learn that the U.S. Government seized Scott’s passport today after he boarded a flight that would take him to Turkey and then to St. Petersburg. Scott had been invited to speak at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. I guess they will have him appear via Zoom. I am at the same Forum and am speaking in response to an invitation from the SPIEF 2024 organizers. This forum is a big deal — 25,000 people are attending from around the world.

I suppose congratulations are in order to the Biden Administration — they are garnering more public attention for Scott and his message than he has received in the last two years.

Judge Napolitano, despite reports to the contrary, was not removed from the flight. He had received news earlier in the day that required him to cancel the trip with Scott, but Scott’s plans were unaffected (until the Homeland Security dudes showed up). So, the Judge and his producer scrambled around and I did my normal 11am EST appearance (except it was 6pm in St. Petersburg).

GEORGIA ON MY MIND

Salome Zourabichvili with Pelosi. The proud desdendant of an old Georgian gusano family, she might soon conveniently become a US citizen, too.

GEORGIA ON MY MIND

Yes, I will post Ray Charles, but I am not thinking about Ray’s Georgia. Nope. I am thinking about the frantic Western effort to launch a color revolution in Georgia, because that country’s legislature has the audacity to believe that domestic political groups should report if they are receiving at least 20% of their funding from foreigners. This is just one more example of the stinking hypocrisy I described in my previous article.

The spectacle unfolding in Tbilisi is reminiscent of a Monty Python skit, only this one includes real violence and bloodshed. We have seen the Foreign Ministers of Lithuania, Estonia and Iceland show up in Tbilisi and join the protests, by giving speeches to seething crowds, denouncing the actions of the Georgian legislature. Can you imagine the freakout in Washington if Russia’s Lavrov, China’s Wang Yi, and Hungary’s Szijjártó showed up at a Trump rally to denounce Biden’s policy in Ukraine? Exactly. The United States would not tolerate that shit for one minute. Talk about double standards.

Salome with the EU's Charles Michel.  EU meddlers are welcome.

Then you have the Georgian President, who was born in France and is a French citizen. Salome Zourabichvili, if she had the same pedigree (i.e., born in France but granted U.S. citizenship) in the United States, she would be banned by the Constitution from serving as President. Yet, here she is, [ethnically Georgian 100%] shamelessly promoting foreign interests over those of the people she was elected to serve. And the majority of the European governments, as well as the Biden Administration, are vowing to impose sanctions if the legislature dares to override Zourabichvili’s veto.

It may be that the West, stupidly in my view, sees this as a baited trap to lure Russia to intervene if the color revolution picks up steam. I believe that Russia, in light of its failure to respond to the Maidan revolution in 2014, is not going to sit passively and see how things work out. At a minimum, Russia’s intelligence service is probably passing information to its intelligence counterparts in Tbilisi about the identities of foreign operators working to manufacture chaos and the source of the funds pouring into Georgia.

The obsession* of the West to meddle in other governments and foment regime change must end. I think Russia and China, as a result of their latest summit, are committed to achieving that goal. The weaker nations of the world, especially in the Global South, are awakened to this threat. That’s one of the reasons that the nations in the African Sahel have given the French and the United States the boot. I personally hope that marks the beginning of a welcome turn in world affairs.

* It's actually not an obsession, Larry. It's worse than that. It's merely the ineluctable course followed by all imperialist nations, and the US is the Summum malum of all imperialisms.

Angelo Giuliano put an interesting post on Twitter/X about her:

“She started as French ambassador to Georgia.
She became president of Georgia after getting Georgian passport… seriously.

Meet Georgian president Salome Zourabichvili
– Born French citizen, later she got her Georgian citizenship
– She previously worked in NATO Brussels.
– Worked at French Embassy in Washington
– She is an ex-student of Zbigniew Brzezinski
– She worked as Foreign minister for US/EU agent Mikheil Saakashvili.

She is clearly a foreign agent acting now as Georgian president.

Now you know why she wants to veto the “foreign agent bill”

I don’t think foreign interference gets more blatant than that.

It shows that when you control the media and you can inject millions of USD into a relatively poor country it is easy to capture people who are struggling to survive. They see these phony groups and associations saying IF only you become EU or NATO you will become wealthy. Yes, it is a pipe dream but they fall for it every single time. The US has done this over and over, even though it is a bankrupt country and more of its own people live in poverty than in many of the countries who fall for the trap.

Generally true but with the present Georgian relationship with Russia Georgia’s economy is booming. This may be poorly understood by the protesters or perhaps buying rioters with Western dollars is just too tempting, but as in the past joining with the West was not a pleasant history as Russians were being shelled in the south.and Russia did react. It will be proactive again.

They should hang her. In public. Then bury the body in an unmarked grave.

The fact that the USA, UK, Australia and others (the EU is currently considering such a law, along with its hypocritical total ban on Russian media in Europe) all have exactly the same laws in place requiring foreign agent registration just highlights the incredible hypocrisy at work here.

The Georgian government backed by Russia will do what China did with HK unrest fomented by the West. Allow it to run to gain maximum information about the dissident forces and then crack down on it…. conclusively. If the West wants a tide of Georgian refugees it can give them passports and take them in…. Or send them where the West needs bodies- on the Russian front. They can fight and die gloriously for their ideals.

There are not going to be any more pushover revolutions.

Larry you are absolutely right to focus on Georgia. It is becoming clear to me that Ukraine is far from the only game in town for our globalist masters. They are determined to take down (or rather over) Russia and pinch its resources and don’t care who they sacrifice in the process. It’s easy to buy up/blackmail/intimidate most Western leaders. If all else fails they will try to kill them (Fico). Rent-a-mobs are also relatively easy to conjure up with the right resources. As for the presstitute media, they are the worst type of lying scum.

When Ukraine has had enough, Georgia, Moldova, and Lithuania (think Kalingrad) are in the wings. Think of a top professional boxer up against inferior sparring partners. Throw enough of them at him, he’ll eventually be beaten. That’s their thinking, I imagine. They are not going to give up until and unless the mugs being thrown into the fight wake up. I hope and pray that the wretched Ukrainian population – at least those that remain – will soon realize they’ve been suckered by their western supposed allies. Ditto the populations of those countries who’ve been impoverished by their deeply corrupt ‘leaders’. The upcoming European elections are critical. I also think Trump’s choice of Vice President is equally important. I fear he’ll be talked into appointing another Establishment shill like Pence was. I fear the UK – my own country – is beyond redemption. (Incidentally, if someone can explain to me why our Indian Prime Minister with his Indian wife and her billionaire father-in-law, will decamp to the US, where he’s already a citizen, the moment he’s booted out of Downing Street), cares so strongly about Ukraine, I would be most grateful? It can’t be money, which easily explains Buffoon Boris)

I’d suggest the only “president” that needs to be called is sitting in Columbia University. S/he has a delinquent recidivist in the international “Home Science” department cooking up hate-cookies again. If V. Nuland is not behind this, I’ll eat my hat (figuratively speaking).

Based on the other comments (herein) this Salome Zourabichvili seems like a slippery eel to deal with. She’s unlikely to call for help (from Russia). And the Russians have plenty on their plate to deal with at the moment. But hopefully they act swiftly — as they did in Kazakhstan (2022?) once help was requested. I think one seemingly eternal ongoing “cat playing with a soon to be dead mouse” game in the Ukraine is enough for the public bloodlust moment (neocons exempted).

I agree about not voting as some wag said “it only encourages them”. I haven’t voted in UK national elections for thirty years. Tweedle dum and Tweeedle Dee. Don’t give them legitimacy – not that they care, but true freedom is being able to think for oneself. I’d lay odds that Trump will surround himself with as many Neocons if he’s elected as he did last time, with son-in-law Jared still skulking in the background.

Sounds like it’s time for some counter-riots at the US Embassy. Not to mention arrest, expulsion and lifetime bans of all foreigners involved in the protests. The ‘president,’ herself an obvious foreign agent, should be deported back to France and have her Georgian passport revoked.

UKRAINE, THE WAR IN GAZA AND ARGENTINA

I did several interviews today, but I am only posting the roundtable with Judge Napolitano and Ray McGovern and my chat with Ania, which contains a segment on Argentina.

The descent of the United States into an authoritarian state intent on controlling speech and punishing political opponents kicked off our conversation with the Judge. I think the Israeli/Zionist movement is in trouble. According to Haaretz, reports that the International Criminal Court is preparing indictments against Netanyahu and two of his government ministers has set off a panic in the Israeli Government and is forcing some changes in the conduct of the genocidal operation in Gaza:

Whether or not the arrest warrants materialize, they have already had an effect. It is impossible to detach them from the postponement of any move to start the evacuation of Palestinian civilians as a prelude to the Rafah operation, and the sudden willingness of Netanyahu to accept an Egyptian proposal for a hostage agreement that will include the restoration of freedom of movement in Gaza and, more than anything else, the increasingly open actions by Israel to restore supply lines into Gaza after long months of obstruction.

Israeli officials admit that these are now directly connected to the government’s urgent efforts to fend off arrest warrants.

It’s part of a wider trend of belated realization that the costs of this war on the international front could become intolerable, whether for Israel as a country or for certain Israeli individuals. And while many, perhaps even a majority, of Israelis don’t particularly care if Netanyahu (and Mrs. Netanyahu) might have to give up his penchant for state-funded travel overseas, this isn’t just about him.

I think this is one reason Israel has delayed, if not postponed, its previously announced plan to launch a major cleansing of Rafah.

Along with the specter of ICC arrest warrants, Israel is becoming more isolated diplomatically and economically. Colombia, which traditionally has sided with Israel has broken off relations. Turkey’s Erdogan has now put some meat into his previously empty bombast by suspending trade with Israel. I think oil is still flowing, but that supply could be stopped if Israel goes forward with the Rafah operation.

One topic that the Israeli media is ignoring is the economic pain Israel is suffering as a result of its Gaza campaign. The workforce has been savaged because Palestinian workers are no longer allowed in Israel and Israeli reservists are on active duty instead of doing their civilian jobs. This is all just a reminder that war is not just about killing the “enemy.” There are political and economic considerations as well and Israel has made a mess of those. The global student protests against Israel’s slaughter of Palestinian civilians are gaining traction. It is not confined to the United States.

The chat with Ania took an unexpected but welcomed turn when she asked me about Argentina. While it has been more than 20 years since my last visit to Buenos Aires and Cordoba, the economic chaos that has saddled Argentina for the last 40 years continues. I am particularly amused by President Javier Millei’s reported request to have Argentina join NATO. What a chiste (joke in Spanish)! Last I checked, the Argentine people still insist that Las Malvinas Son Nuestras (i.e., the Falkland Islands are ours). Perhaps Millei does not realize that the United Kingdom still claims the Falklands as its sovereign territory and also happens to be part of NATO. I do not anticipate any enthusiasm on the part of the Brits to welcome the diminutive Argentine leader into the NATO club anytime soon.

Meanwhile, in Ukraine, the Russians are advancing and bombing the daylights out of Ukrainian command centers, power plants and military storage facilities. And Western leaders, especially the Brits and the French, are becoming more shrill and desperate with each passing day. Britain’s goof of a Foreign Minister put his foot deep inside his mouth today with his reckless call for Ukraine to attack inside Russia with British Storm Shadow missiles. That’s real smart. Commit an overt act of war against Russia and expect the Russians to do nothing? As they say in the southern states of the United States, that dog won’t hunt.

THE IRAN ATTACK — WHAT DID THE U.S. KNOW AND WHEN DID IT KNOW IT?

As I wrote in an earlier piece on the lead up to Iran’s drone and missile barrage in Israel on the 14th of April, the Iranians clearly gave advanced warning of their plans to neighbouring states in the Persian Gulf as well as Turkey. U.S. officials vehemently denied that and then insisted that Israel scored an overwhelming victory. Enjoy the smell of political bullshit. It is being piled higher and deeper.

Sy writes:

I’ve spent much of my career reporting on the American military’s misdeeds and worse, especially during the Vietnam War, but it’s time now to applaud the brilliance of the Pentagon planning staff and the operational officers who did what America assured Iran’s religious and military leadership it could do: allow Iran to respond to yet another Israeli assassination by flinging more than three hundred drones and missiles toward Israeli targets that as many as possible would be shot out of the sky before hitting ground there. It was a huge gamble, and it paid off.

I don’t know what has happened to my friend. He is being used to put out propaganda. The notion that Iran flung “more than three hundred drones and missiles toward Israeli targets” only to have them down because Lloyd Austin’s Department of Defense orchestrated that outcome through a back channel with a Russian General and the Biden White House knew nothing of it is ridiculous. Sorry. I have to throw the “red” flag. Not on Sy, but on his sources. Sy’s failing in this piece, in my judgment, is that he accepted at face-value what his high-placed source told him.

I am not allowed to name the American senior military officers and advisers who made the unusual faux missile attack happen. But it’s important to say that President Joe Biden, whose foreign policy team was not involved in the process, accepted the high-risk plan and publicly urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose political career and personal freedom depend on keeping the war in Gaza going, and the rest of the Israeli leadership not to respond to Iran.

The key piece of information missing from Sy’s story is how one Russian General persuaded Iran to “allow” its missiles to be shot down. What does Iran gain from that? Feeding Western propaganda that Iran’s missiles are shit and Israel’s air defense system is second to none? Yeah, I can see the mullahs buying into that (NOT!!!).

Iran did not launch a “faux missile attack.” Iran launched a coordinated drone, cruise missile and ballistic missile attack. The version being fed to Sy is, in my opinion, a cover story to hide what CIA Director Bill Burns did. According to Pepe Escobar, who I presume has some well connected sources in the Persian Gulf nations, Burns met in Oman with an Iranian delegation in the days prior to April 14 and received assurances that Iran was not going to cause mass casualties in Israel. Instead, Iran used the first wave of drones as mere pawns in an elaborate game of military chess. The Iranians fully expected those drones to be shot down. That first wave of attacks provided Iran with some critical intelligence about the disposition and capability of Israel’s Iron Dome system.

The next wave — cruise missiles — arrived within minutes of the drones and provided an additional intel dump about Israel’s air defense system for Iranian analysts. It was the third leg of the attack — the ballistic missiles, which hit three different Israeli military installations. While Israel insists that no significant damage was done, Israel has not allowed any Israeli reporters to go on those facilities and show live video of the “no damage.” Israel had no answer for those missiles. That was the message Iran was sending. Iran can hit Israel with ballistic missiles, after overwhelming its air defense system, and there is nothing Israel can do to stop Iran.

The world now waits and watch to see if Israel will follow through on its vow to retaliate against Iran. Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi reiterated in a 17 April speech in Tehran that if Israel chooses to attack Iran, Iran will launch a more dense, deadly attack in response.

It appears that Russian and Chinese authorities are in regular contact with Iran trying to contain the crisis. At least they understand how this situation could spin out of control and confront the world with a crisis further inflamed by nuclear weapons.

Israel’s top officials continue to insist they will retaliate. We should know if they are serious or not by week’s end.
