EDITOR—Increasing numbers of Israeli soldiers are becoming disillusioned with fighting in Gaza and other areas of conflict in Lebanon and the West Bank, leading some to refuse to return to the battlefield. According to a report in Israeli outlet HaMakom, interviews with over 20 parents and fighters in a range of battalions have revealed increasing dissatisfaction in the ranks. Among the Nahal Brigade, soldiers spend five weeks fighting in Gaza before returning home to rest, something they have done 11 times so far since the beginning of fighting October 2023. Jimmy speaks with Congressional candidate Jose Vega and retired Marine Scott Ritter about why the circumstances in Gaza would lead IDF soldiers in particular to refuse to fight any more.

CHARLES MCKELVEY—But the future is not dark. Expansion in photovoltaic energy, already in process, combined with the increased national production of crude oil, will enable the system to attain energy sovereignty and stability without depending on the importation of fuel oil, the availability of which is shaped by imperialist sanctions and international conditions.
The threat posed by the blackout has been contained, as a result of the dedicated day-and-night work of the electrical workers, accompanied by the Cuban people, who supported each other in difficult conditions, living without electrical service and water, and who passed on the opportunity to participate in politically immature protest.

EDITOR—Jeff explains how the West’s “Bubble” mentality, fully reflective of US/UK imperialist arrogance, has contributed to the inability of imperial leaders to understand how the rest of the world (outside the captive “collective West” in the EU, Japan, Australia, etc.) , is now fed up with oppressive, exploitative, dictatorial and often downright criminal postures, and actively seeking to build a fully sovereign alliance structure (BRICS, SCO, etc.) away from and fully independent of Washington’s control.

M. KIMBERLEY—Coercive measures are a means of making war without soldiers, bullets, or bombs. They are deadly and secure the primacy that the U.S. seeks. Countries are declared adversaries and punished not because of any wrong doing on their part, but because they somehow run afoul of U.S. foreign policy dictates. In the case of Cuba, its commitment to its socialist revolution presents the threat of a good example. The existence of free education and free health care and a foreign policy that seeks peaceful coexistence so close to the U.S. presents a possibility that the U.S. will not permit, and so the punishing sanctions regime goes on.

Larry C. Johnson & Andrei Martyanov: Israel Attacks Iran!
2 minutes readEDITOR—Geostrategic analysts Andre Martyanov and Larry C. Johnson tease out the probable truth behind Israel’s latest airstrike on Iran, an attack that many observers define as “limited strikes”. Israel’s ambitious military plans for the Middle East, while the country remains enmeshed in several wars, and the actual script followed by the US empire, Tel Aviv’s main accomplice and enabler, remain hard to understand at this point since the US own military capability has been severely degraded as a result of Ukraine, Washington’s over-reach, and the dramatic changes in battlefront technology (drones, missiles, etc.), which have abruptly rendered obsolete a great deal of America’s war inventory. Larry and Andrei agree that IF it is eventually confirmed that Iran (probably with Russia’s aid) was able to detect, stop and destroy most of Israel’s missiles in this latest attack, the event will mark the end of US hegemony in the Middle East and in other flashpoints around the globe.
