Editor’s Note: We are lucky to have French-American Jeff J. Brown, an expert on China, the Mideast, France, and other cultures, as one of our editorial pillars. (Jeff is of course the editor-in-chief of the unique China Rising blog, a sister entity to TGP). His expertise on China, indispensable for any American or Westerner, spanning already three major books, is detailed below. In this episode, Jeff joins Ania K., to chat about the rapidly deteriorating situation in France and the EU/NATO blocs, in general, as self-serving, US-pushed neoliberal imperial policies seem to be finally harvesting the same reaction across the continent in hitherto contained populations: anger, frustration and an almost universal desire for regime change that still lacks a fitting political channel.

Michael Hudson: A roadmap to escape the west’s stranglehold
15 minutes readMICHAEL HUDSON—The confiscation of Venezuela’s gold reserves in London and its US investments, the confiscation of $300 billion of Russia’s foreign-exchange reserves held in the United States and Europe, and its threat to do the same to China and other countries resisting US foreign policy has made de-dollarization urgent. I have explained the logic in many points, from my Valdai Club article (with Radhika Desai) to my recent book on The Destiny of Civilization, the lecture series that I prepared for Hong Kong and the Global University for Sustainability.

“DICTATORSHIP” AND “DEMOCRACY” AS LOADED LANGUAGE: ANTI-COMMUNIST COLD-WAR PROPAGANDA
by Bruce Lerro35 minutes readBRUCE LERRO—In a 1932 interview with Mussolini, the press packaged him as a model for the U.S. as “what a real dictator would do”. Here is an excerpt from Barron’s editorial section: “Whether we are quite ready to admit it or not, sometimes openly and other times secretly, we have been longing to see the superman emerge… Of course, we all realize that dictatorships and even semi-dictatorships in peacetime are quite contrary to the spirit of American institutions and all that.” Rather than rejecting the fear that “it can’t happen here” the sociologist Robert Lynd suggested that the capitalists secretly desired a dictatorship.

The article we reproduce here [MAO’S PRIVATE LIFE AND SEXUAL ACTIVITY] presents us with an anonymous hatchet job on Mao Tse tung. We are calling this Part 1 of this presentation. As the alert reader will quickly note, this is a work of propaganda at its foulest, a vile work designed to fool the millions of information consumers still caught in the web of lies maintained by the empire through its media and secondary institutions of mind manipulation. Thus every insult and innuendo is used to present Mao (and revolutionary communism) as fraudulent, ruthless and immoral. Nothing is too low or too far fetched.
