Is Trump a neofascist? Analysts on the left, such as Cornel West, Noam Chomsky, and Judith Butler think he is. But mainstream liberal commentators refuse to associate the Trump phenomena with fascism, calling him a “rightwing populist.” Does it really matter what Trump is called? The poet, playwright, and political thinker, Bertolt Brecht, asked in 1935: “How can anyone tell the truth about fascism, unless he’s willing to speak out against capitalism, which brings it forth?”

It’s about the Benjamins — Trump’s smearing of congresswomen demonstrates Israel’s influence in US politics
11 minutes readPHILIP WEISS—Our media have been forthright in explaining that the demagogic president is appealing to his white nationalist base with the attacks on four women of color. What they don’t say is that Trump is also using the attack in a tactical manner to attempt to divide the Democratic Party over Israel and carry off pro-Israel Jewish donors and voters from their traditional home and into the Republican Party. Democrats and the media can’t talk about that angle because they are involved in that racket.

RAINER SHEA—This is the fundamental madness of the anti-Russia campaign of recent years. There are people who otherwise think sensibly, and put on a rational common-sense veneer, while at the same time promoting an insane CIA-manufactured effort to drive the world’s greatest powers into an ever-escalating nuclear standoff. If Trump’s numerous war provocations against Russia haven’t given these people “some degree of certainty” that Trump isn’t working for Putin, they haven’t been approaching this issue rationally, and they likely won’t start to as the U.S.-Russia cold war continues.

Truth, lies & hypocrisy in between, the struggle never dies: Galloway debates Hitchens on Iraq war (2005)
4 minutes readThis is easily one of the greatest debates in modern times, with the formidable George Galloway facing Christopher Hitchens, the former gadfly and intellectual pugilist of the left who, by the 2000s, having turned full-on apostate, was cheerfully playing itinerant apologist for the US empire. The debate highlights the slippery nature of truth in current events, as it survives embedded in oceans of professional manipulation, this reality made more urgent by the wholesale betrayal of liberals and even former radicals, such as Hitchens.
