Like Facebook and Twitter, and other social media, Big Tech is certainly deeply committed to the corporate state censorship campaigns in the name of eliminating “misinformation”, as if that were possible, but the company that has led the charge is none other than Google, which also owns YouTube. (Big Tech is full of huge monopolies). That’s why the Democrats since 2016, with the assist of their regular mainstream media accomplices (NYTimes, CBS, CNN, etc.) have created something of a panic about “fake news” and “lies on the internet”, something which is both ironic and utterly ludicrous because for close to a century, the biggest engine of disinformation—fake news—has been the mass media in the US, always in accord with the dictates of its owners, the oligopolies which also control the US government.

AOC’s dress stunts and other derelictions of duty
29 minutes readJONATHAN COOK—AOC’s invitation to the Met Gala, and her acceptance, is just another stage in her cooptation by the elite. The brashly outspoken rookie politician of a few years ago has been gradually tamed into the more “responsible” politician looking to claw her way up the Democratic party career ladder.
She is becoming a parody of her old self. The rhetoric of political protest on the campaign trail in the 14th congressional district has – once put to the test – morphed into the empty spectacle of protest by a Congresswoman increasingly comfortable hobnobbing with the rich and famous.
She is becoming part of the very elite she supposedly disdains. She is a celebrity politician, just as Raducanu is a now celebrity tennis player. She plays to the camera because there is nothing more to her actions than performance and pageantry. And in these, at least, she can excel.

RICHARD MEDHURST—The idea of achieving women’s emancipation through military occupation is a farce. You cannot have women’s rights, human rights or any rights when you live under the military rule of a foreign occupying power. You are subject to their rule.
Even if you want to believe Bush and Blair’s excuses to try and justify this war; saying that they were going after Al Qaeda, well this has nothing to do with that. They didn’t say they were invading Afghanistan for the sake of women’s rights – no matter how just or noble that may sound now. So, to try and use women’s rights now to deflect from the horrors they inflicted on Afghanistan, the millions of people they turned into refugees, the scores they killed – many of whom are women– is an attempt to whitewash their crimes and an insult to people’s intelligence.

We have a name for such foolishness: social imperialism. A social imperialist is anyone who espouses socialism yet promotes imperialism. Social imperialism doesn’t require evidence, just racism and pro-American chauvinism. It is the subtlest variant of American exceptionalism. While claiming to be against police brutality, mass incarceration, and drone warfare, social imperialists huddle alongside the State Department to demonize nations abroad that US imperialism desperately wants to destroy.
