A Silent and Warm Revolution in the Arctic Ocean: ‘As the Ice Melts, the Hegemonic Sea Power Also Melts’

The melting of ice in the Arctic Ocean continues to affect not only maritime transportation but also global geopolitics. As the ice melts, Anglo-Saxon maritime dominance also melts. In this context, a new development that will be a milestone for world maritime trade took place on September 25, 2024, on the Northern Sea Route (NSR) controlled by Russia in the Arctic Ocean.

A First on the North Arctic Route

The Panama-flagged, non-Ice Class, 294-meter-long PANAMAX-class container ship named ‘’Flying Fish 1’’ carrying 5,000 containers (TEU) arrived in Shanghai, China, on September 25, 2024, less than three weeks after its departure from Saint Petersburg, Russia. During this 8,000-mile voyage, the ship maintained an average speed of 16 knots and, most importantly, did not need the Russian icebreaker. The two most critical developments for this journey, which goes from the Baltic to the North Sea and passes through the Barents, Kara, Laptev, East Siberian, Chukchi and Bering Seas, are undoubtedly Russia’s announcement that the NSR will be open to ice-class ships all year round at the end of 2022, and starting in 2023, non-ice-class ships will be given permission to pass between July 1 and November 15. The Flying Fish 1 ship received this permission on May 20, 2024.

The first container ship to pass through these waters in history was the 45,000-ton container ship named Venta Maersk, owned by the world container giant Maersk. The ship loaded the containers from Vladivostok in the Pacific and brought them to Saint Petersburg in the Baltic within a month on September 28, 2018 via the NSR.

Editor's Note:

Venta Maersk

Delivered July 11, 2018, Venta Maersk is the fourth vessel in a series of seven ice-class Baltic feeder ships to serve the North Sea and Baltic Sea for Seago Line, the intra-Europe and short-sea carrier of Maersk. The 3,96 TEU vessels are among the world’s largest ice-class containerships, designed specifically for operation in winter conditions (down to -25 degrees C).  The new ships have sheltered forecastle deck for safe mooring operations in winter conditions and enclosed bridge wings for safe maneuvering and harbor approach. Their propeller and rudder design has also been optimized to reduce fuel consumption. Additionally, the vessels use marine fuel which is fully compliant with the Emission Control Area (ECA) rules, established by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).

NSR in Energy Transportation

While these were happening in the container world, the Russian Arc7 class Christophe de Margerie (Ice Class) LNG tanker (liquefied natural gas carrier) departed from Jiangsu, China on January 27, 2021 and completed its 2400-mile journey via the NSR in 11 days on February 8, 2021 at the Sabetta Port in the Arctic/Kara Sea of Russia. The same ship had used the same route in May 2020 in the east direction under icebreaker escort. This passage, which was made in February 2020 in winter conditions, in continuous darkness, without icebreaker escort for the most part, took 36 days shorter than the journey to be made via the Suez Canal. With this journey, Russia proved that passage in the region can be realized in almost 10 months out of 12 months. Most importantly, Russia’s possession of the world’s largest and most powerful nuclear icebreakers capable of breaking 4-meter ice causes it to establish a monopoly in the region within its own jurisdiction. These types of ships are capable of breaking ice wide enough for 200,000-ton supertankers to pass.

Shortened Routes

If Flying Fish 1, which arrived in Shanghai on September 25, had used the Suez Canal, it would have covered 12,000 miles and the journey would have taken two weeks longer. On the other hand, many ships that cannot use the Bab El Mandeb Strait and the Suez Canal due to the Houthi attacks that emerged through the Israel-Hamas war have been making this journey by circling the Cape of Good Hope since November 2023. This takes approximately 16,000 miles. Therefore, the NSR offers a solution that reduces operating costs for existing operators by half compared to the Cape of Good Hope route with the 8,000 miles it saves.

The RF nuclear icebreaker Artika was the first surface ship to reach the North Pole on August 17, 1977.

Transition to Regular Lines

Seasonal fixed lines have now begun to be established between China and Russia. In the summer of 2023, the 170,000-ton Capesize bulk carrier Gingo and numerous Suezmax crude oil tankers passed through this route. With 14 consecutive shipments made with ice-free tankers, Russia sent 1.5 million barrels of oil to China. Oil is the strategic material that China will need the most due to the closure of the Strait of Malacca in times of war. Russia is proving that it will send the oil it will need the most to China through the Arctic by tankers, not only through pipelines or train transportation elsewhere. In 2023, 36 million tons of cargo were carried in the NSR, which operates under the authority of ROSATOM.

Dollar and Navy Power

The situation that emerged in the NSR is a nightmare for Anglo-Saxon maritime geopolitics. Because the NSR is turning into a permanent maritime transportation route where American warships cannot control. The US maintained its dollar power with its navy. Today its navy is inadequate in the NSR area. In addition, its navy has weakened beyond shrinking. However, what the founder of the CIA organ Stratfor’s founder, strategist George Friedman, say in his books “The Next 100 Years” and “The Next 10 Years”, which he wrote in the 2010s when American power was not questioned?

Nuclear icebreaker Tor sitting in Siberian port of Sabetta

“The foundation of American power is the oceans. Dominating the oceans prevents other states from attacking the US, allows the US to intervene when necessary, and gives the US control of international trade. Global trade is dependent on the oceans. Whoever controls the oceans controls global trade… The US controls all the oceans. No other power in history has been able to do this. This control is not only the foundation of US security, but also the foundation of its power to shape the international system. If the US does not approve, no one can go anywhere on the seas. At the end of the day, maintaining control of the world’s oceans is the most important geopolitical goal for the US.”

This situation has changed now. The US dollar and naval power are no longer sufficient for the dominance of hegemony.

Crude Oil Reaching From the Sea Is Essential

Both world wars broke out because of Germany, which went from the continent to the sea and challenged the hegemonic England. If we add Japan, which wanted to expand from the island to the continent in World War II, the struggle focused on the control of the seas for both in the final analysis. Hitler could not control the seas with submarines alone. Hitler’s submarines could not keep up with the speed of the US’s shipbuilding. Japan, as an island state, was also dependent on oil and without controlling the seas, oil continuity was not possible. It was exhausted when it lost its merchant fleet. In short, both Germany and Japan could not use the sea, and were left without oil and could not fight. Although oil pipelines exist today, it is easy to destroy these lines in war. Even if they are repaired, it is not easy to prevent repeated attacks. Therefore, Friedman draws the power of his interpretation from history. However, that power is weakening today. When World War II ended, there were 6,000 ships, today there are 297.

Russia’s Geographical Advantage in the Arctic

In 2019, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said,

“The Arctic is no longer an area of cooperation, all countries in the region must be prepared for the fact that it has become a region for competition, and that China and Russia are essentially ‘threats to security’ in the region.”

In 2019, regular transportation lines had not yet been established, and the NSR had not been opened to world trade. Today, the situation is very different.

North Sea - WorldAtlas

With the formation of regular lines on the Arctic front and the regular passage of container ships suitable for military buildup, a permanent crisis has begun for the Anglo-Soxon front, but Russia has the advantage in this crisis.

Because only 12% of the Arctic Ocean is in the status of high seas. Of the remaining 88%, 65% (24,000km of coast) is under the full control of Russia. 67% of the Russian Navy belongs to the Northern Fleet, as the most important coasts that open to the oceans, especially nuclear submarines, are in the North Sea. The main base of the Northern Navy is also in this region. However, the biggest nightmare for the US is that Russia has 11 large-tonnage icebreakers/tugboats in the region, 8 of which have Nuclear propulsion. This superiority gives the Russians a clear advantage over the USA, which has 2 conventional icebreakers.

Russia’s Infrastructure Build

At an economic forum at the beginning of 2024, Russian President Putin said that “the center of economic development in Russia is changing, Russia will expand with the Arctic.” Indeed, the region contains 30% of the world’s natural gas reserves and 13% of oil.

Russia first established the Arctic Command in the region, which can be considered its front yard. It established a chain of modern bases extending from the north of the Kola Peninsula to Franz Joseph Land and to Wrangel Island in the east. Russia built a large airport with a 4 km long runway in the Arctic region. Air bases were developed, early warning radars and listening systems were modernized, and the number of aircraft was increased. In addition, a 6,000-person emergency response force was established in the Murmansk and Yamal regions.

China Is a Geopolitical Actor in the Arctic

China defines itself as a Near Arctic State. It does not only have geopolitical interests in the region. It has many common investments with Russia, especially in energy and rare metals.

In 2015, China identified the Bering Strait, the Pacific and Atlantic gateway to the Arctic Ocean, as an area of China’s security concern and declared that it would use force if necessary to protect its interests in this strait. In mid-September 2015, for the first time in history, five Chinese warships exercised the right of innocent passage in the Bering Sea. If China uses the Bering Strait and other Arctic routes, it can both largely get rid of its dependence on the Strait of Malacca and save $60-100 billion annually in maritimetransportation costs.

China is also developing energy cooperation with Russia in the Arctic Ocean within the scope of BRICS and the SCO. Russian Gazprom and China’s CNPC companies continue drilling in the Arctic Ocean. China’s main goal is to include the region in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) under the name of the Polar Silk Road. After the Russia-Ukraine War, China’s cooperation with Russia in the Arctic region has developed rapidly. For example, in July of this year, Russian and Chinese bomber aircraft conducted joint patrol operations off the coast of Alaska. Similarly, in October, Chinese and Russian coast guard ships passing through the Bering Strait conducted joint exercises and patrols in Arctic waters for the first time in history.

Bering Sea - WorldAtlas

The Reaction of the Anglo-saxon Front

It should be emphasized that the maritime hegemony is very disturbed by these developments. In July 2024, the US updated its Arctic Strategy. Before the new document, which aims to develop surveillance, intelligence and military cooperation in order to counter Russia and China, during the Trump era, the US Navy Department published a strategy document for the region under the name Blue Arctic on January 5, 2021.

In addition to the Russian Federation, the Arctic region has coasts with the US, Canada, Norway and Denmark. On the other hand, there is an 8-member Arctic Council established in 1996, where 3 northern (Nordic) countries (Sweden, Finland and Iceland) are represented, which provides regulation and coordination in the region. The Council has been inactive since February 2022 due to the Russia-Ukraine War. On the other hand, 7 out of 8 countries are NATO members. However, this situation does not give NATO a situational advantage. The US and its allies continue to pay the price of the rapid downsizing at sea and in the region after the Cold War. They are falling behind in both the number of icebreakers and the number of troops ready for war in winter conditions.

In addition, Russia has advantages in the field of submarine warfare and hypersonic anti-ship missiles. However, despite its limited naval power, the US challenges Russia’s geographical superiority in these critical waterways through its allies. As the only NATO country with a permanent military headquarters north of the Arctic Circle (66°33’N latitude), Norway gives its most important security and defense priority to the protection of US interests in this region due to the newly developing Arctic geopolitics. NATO also uses Norway’s situation as a battering ram against Russia, putting it forward for the interests of the US in this region. Norway, one of the calmest, richest and most prosperous countries in the world, has now joined the group of risky countries that have to maintain high military vigilance and readiness at all times. In this context, some American strategists have drawn attention to the area between England, Greenland and Iceland, which is called the GIUK Gap where Russian submarines have to pass to reach Atlantic Ocean. US has established the (underwater) SOSUS system during the cold war to monitor Soviet subs movements. Today GIUK Gap is more important than that of the cold war era. In this context the Nuclear Submarine base in Faslane/Scotland is the most valuable asset of US Navy in time of armed conflict with Russia. The speedy accessions of Sweden and Finland to NATO has to be seen in Arctic perspective also.

It is also said that the Bering Strait has emerged as a new rival to the critical junction where Russian nuclear and diesel-electric submarines pass. In this region, the revival of the American base chain in Alaska and the Aleuatian Islands is demanded. In addition to these developments, the joint NATO headquarters JFC Norfolk has also taken responsibility for the Norwegian Arctic region.

The Nordic Council and Zelensky

The Northern (Nordic) Council, established in 1952 by Denmark, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, also intervenes in Arctic policies on environmental and maritime law issues. In the four-day meeting focusing on “Peace and Security in the Arctic” that started on October 27, 2024, the Council prioritized security concerns and perceived “threats” from Russia and China, while also moving into the geopolitical arena by inviting Zelensky to the meeting.

Lessons for Turkiye

Undoubtedly, one of the most important developments of the 21st century is the opening of the Arctic sea route while American hegemony is declining. How active is Turkey in this region?

Although our shipyards follow the developments in the Arctic Region and take some initiatives, our Merchant Marine Fleet is not active in this field. In this conjuncture, where the maritime dominance of the Anglo-Saxon world is coming to an end, or at least a strong Asia/Global South counterbalance is emerging, new areas of opportunity should be evaluated. At the very least, the merchant fleet needs to formulate Arctic policy, as do some of our enterprising shipyards. Because this road will be an area where many operators will try to take a place. While Turkiye-Russia relations are developing in many areas despite our NATO membership and the pressures of the Ukraine War, the opportunities that arise on the Arctic Route should not be overlooked. Due to the US and the EU, which do not allow Ankara to explore for and extract gas and oil in the Mediterranean, Ankara sent a seismic research ship and frigates to Somalia which is 4600 miles away under US/EU pressure.

On the other hand the NSR, is 3000 km to our north and provides new opportuniteis for cooperation with Russia. Reminding that ROSATOM, which built a nuclear reactor in Mersin Akkuyu, is also the NSR Operation Authority, it is important to start bilateral agreements and infrastructure investment partnerships with Russia on the NSR Transportation Route to prepare for the remaining quarters of the 21st century. Our shipowners should also evaluate this rising opportunity and show their flag, albeit slowly, on this line by having Ice Class ships.

2024: The Least Consequential Election Of My Life

I like the slogan “Country Over Party” because it describes the actual state of America. The country's over, and the oligarchs are having one last bloody orgy party for the road.

Genocide is a consequence, and it will continue whoever Americans elect. Climate collapse is a consequence, and they're both candidates are committed to more drilling. Slavery is a consequence and both are committed to out-deporting and out-incarcerating the American underclass. Whether America elects an obvious charlatan or a corporate automaton, who gives a shit? The consequences are the same, making the election entirely inconsequential.

The Lesser Evil Is Trump

By any objective measure, Trump is actually the lesser evil. Trump has not (yet) committed genocide, he sickened less people with COVID and offered more relief, he drilled less than Biden/Harris, and deported fewer passport slaves. The appeal of someone like Kamala Harris is purely subjective, she makes liberals feel superior while still participating in white supremacy. It's not that both candidates are the same, it's that the Democrats are objectively worse. If anything, they're more dangerous because they're better organized, they are the more efficient evil, and better at covering their tracks. Trump is at least an honest liar. He looks evil and he is. As Malcolm X said,

In this way, Trump is the lesser evil because he's transparently evil. Objectively, also, he has simply done less evil in the evil office. Look for yourself. Biden/Harris have accelerated the corrupt incineration of Ukraine on the altar of fighting a Russia which need not be fought. Biden/Harris have committed livestreamed genocide for over a year now. Biden/Harris have sickened and killed more people with COVID, while gutting all protections and social support. Biden/Harris have accelerated the trade war (re: siege) against China, while reinforcing illegal sieges against Cuba, Iran, etc. Biden/Harris have deported more people, built more wall, dumped more carbon into the atmosphere, and cracked down on speech and assembly even harder than the supposed fascist candidate. Fascism is already here, you morons! Americans are seriously debating 95% Hitler vs 96% Hitler, not understand that this makes them all Nazi, all around. America has been a totalitarian genocide state for its whole existence, regardless of who's President.

I'll say it again and again because it generally goes unsaid. By any objective measure, the Democrats are worse than the orange bogeyman, they just subjectively make liberals feel better, which makes things worse in and of itself. Liberals don't deserve to feel good. They deserve someone that actually represents them, an openly wicked and venal man like Trump.

All Democrats have to offer this election cycle is what Hannah Arendt called pious banalities, long past their sell-by date. As Arendt said about Weimar Germany,

Since the bourgeoisie claimed to be the guardian of Western traditions and confounded all moral issues by parading publicly virtues which it not only did not possess in private and business life, but actually held in contempt, it seemed revolutionary to admit cruelty, disregard of human values, and general amorality, because this at least destroyed the duplicity upon which the existing society seemed to rest.

Arendt has her own problems, like being a racist and anti-communist (Diet Hitler), but she was at least a more self-aware liberal. She understood the appeal of mob vulgarian like Trump in a way modern liberals cannot. With Trump, WYSIWYG, whereas Democrats miss the other programming point, POSIWID:

The purpose of a system is what it does (POSIWID) is a systems thinking heuristic coined by Stafford Beer, who observed that there is "no point in claiming that the purpose of a system is to do what it constantly fails to do."

The Democrats still think they're the good guys while committing genocide. Liberals today say well, Trump would genocide more, with no idea of how deranged they sound. Forget the Democrats, American democracy itself is irredeemable. It's Genocide or Diet Genocide, with no water in sight.

Great Evil

If you look at the American election objectively, Trump and Harris are both the same picture. They are both American Presidents (re: Heisenberg) and thus great evil, with little tribal differences that only make sense to Americans.

Reagan was as evil as he was hypocritical, another valuable trait in US presidents.

Americans flatter him, to say Trump will be their Hitler. Hitler was actually a below-average evil as European rulers go.  American Presidents are all Hitlers, with Ronald Reagan being the last incarnation they've been stuck on for decades. Since then, every American President has been some poor Reagan impersonator, AKA Hitler. Bush I was nerd Reagan, Clinton was cool Reagan, Bush II was nepo Reagan, Obama was black Reagan, Trump was clown Reagan, and Biden was Reagan except somehow more senile and trigger-happy. America hasn't had an original idea in decades, and every election since 1980 has been a reboot. Today, Harris is running as a Reagan Democrat next to the Cheney family, tapping into a rich base of 50,000 in Wyoming and assorted torture enthusiasts. History is truly repeating as farce. American politics is still centered around Reagan, who sucked.

Americans, stuck in a time loop, keep saying that this is the most consequential election ever and it isn't. That was supposedly the last election, but what happened then? As I've said and as you can look up, Biden/Harris killed more people with COVID, they deported more people, drilled more fossil fuels, and started more wars, up to livestreamed genocide for months now. Biden is visibly dead in office and Harris is visibly dead inside and it doesn't seem to matter who sits in the seat, as long as endless blood keeps it warm. American oligarchs have become even too lazy for a convincing season of the reality TV farce they call elections. They're just re-running the last election, with one candidate simply selected by consultants.

America today is on autopilot, bombing babies on pure muscle memory. This continues regardless of who occupies the offensive office, which is inherently offensive to man and God. The only satisfaction you can get is kicking the currently ruling bums out, but the ruling class just turns the other cheek and the same shit comes out.

This is why 2024 is, in fact, the least consequential election of my life. A pox on both your houses. Vote Jill Stein if you want to feel moral, or join the Resistance and actually pay for it if you actually want to do something. The Americans are going to continue killing either way, unless we kill the very idea of America. Supporting a peaceful transfer of power within America is supporting their endless violence within and without. God-damn America, as Obama's preacher said, before that soulless charlatan disavowed him. Neither side of America deserves to win. This is like asking the neck which side of the knife it prefers. To outsiders like me, this is all like debating whether Goebbels or Göring replaces Hitler. Who gives a fuck? Cyanide and the Red Army are the only moral choices, when faced with such immorality seeking to reincarnate itself.

On Cusp of US Election, a Discussion of Potential Outcomes

Please make sure these dispatches reach as many readers as possible. Share with kin, friends and workmates and ask them to do likewise.

On Cusp of US Election, a Discussion of Potential Outcomes

Today's Nima, Wolff, Hudson Chat

Professors Hudson and Wolff have discussed the upcoming US Election on several previous occasions with Nima, while this session specifically focuses on US political dynamics, issues foreign and domestic that are being completely ignored, and what the outcomes might be depending on who is declared the winner. And no, there’s no talk of the election being stolen by on side or the other or what the social response might be depending on who wins. The number of excellent ideas and insights are too many to list. Dr. Wolff carries the show because he has somewhat better insights and is able to articulate them better. Dr. Wolff provides one of the more interesting points that’s revealed at the 19:00 mark of the 80-minute podcast:

The Hegelian Moment of American Politics: Cold War Isolationism of the Other as the initial thesis has matured and become its antithesis: the isolation of the US as it’s now the Other compared with the Global Majority.

Yes, the discussion prior to that declaration is key, so don’t skip it. As with their previous chats about the election, they talk about the issues neither candidate or their party wants to discuss and would prefer to keep buried underneath the Establishment Narrative. But the discussion is also about the world since the Outlaw US Empire is certainly global. The key factor is the Empire’s declining and is thus desperate to halt that decline, which it’s doing at the expense of its vassals in Europe but also in Asia. However, the Empire’s internal nature that’s been present from its beginning is one main factor in its decline—Exceptionalism where all else are Others, even those thinking themselves allies—Kissinger’s axiom applies: It’s better to be an enemy than a friend of America.

US Empire’s “China Containment Plan”—At Any Cost?

Part One
(A DISCUSSION IN TWO PARTS)

Washington seems determined to check the rise of China by any means necessary, including a cataclysmic war.

I have a number of predictions that I would like to put on the record and although there is only a small likelihood that things will turn out the way I describe, I think there is educational value in elaborating on the reasons why these predictions could possibly come true.

The most important assumption that influences these predictions is the big-picture geopolitical situation where Western global hegemony perceives itself to be under threat from China’s rapidly growing economic power.  What follows from this assumption is a further assumption that rather than resign itself to an inevitable multi-polar world where China becomes too big and too powerful to ever hope to contain, the US will implement their plan of containment against China, sooner rather than later.

So, what can the US do to contain China?  Is it possible for the US to contain China without causing great harm to the global economy and plunging humanity into a period of tremendous depression and upheaval?  Of course not.  China is the single biggest manufacturing superpower on the planet.  They are the number one trading partner for over 120 countries.  If China is to be contained, the global economy must suffer.

So "sooner rather than later" and "the global economy will necessarily suffer if China is to be contained" are the two assumptions which provide the foundation for the rest of my analysis.

Most people I think intuitively believe that the US would never do anything that would risk a global economic collapse.  But if my above assumptions are correct, and I think they are, the US has no choice but to *initiate* a global economic catastrophe, as this would be the only way that the US could significantly weaken China and remain the global hegemon throughout the rest of the 21st century.

So, these two assumptions bring two primary questions to mind regarding what I perceive to be, the inevitable conflict being pushed by the West. The first question has to do with the timeline of events and the second is, what media narratives will be manufactured in order to facilitate the rollout of this dangerous strategy, to the people of the world?

I think that the Western ruling establishment has coalesced around a strategy to initiate the necessary global economic turmoil by launching an attack on Iran.  Iran will respond to this attack by blocking the Strait of Hormuz and disrupting global energy supplies, 20% of which transit the Strait.  I think the US wants this to happen and will use it as the justification for a large-scale attack on Iran, perhaps involving nuclear weapons.

Obviously, this will be a major historic event that will make the COVID experience seem small in comparison.  It should be noted that the US is in an ideal spot to weather such an event as the US is a net energy exporter.  The US government will be able to shield their domestic economy and the pain will be considerably less in the US than in other places such as Europe and the developing world.  The hope of course is that China will be hit hard due to their dependence on foreign energy.

I think this escalation with Iran could happen very soon and I believe that the ruling establishment consensus would like to have Trump as president to manage this strategy.  Iran has allegedly announced that they will once again attack Israel and that they will do so before the election.  I think that such an action would be of benefit to Trump but either way, I think that Trump will win the election because this is what is desired by the establishment consensus.

I think the establishment has decided on Trump because they can then blame him personally for everything that goes wrong and for all the economic fallout which will necessarily result.  They will use both carrots and sticks to get Trump to protect Israel, and the Zionist entity will seize on the opportunity to engage in even more terrorism, ethnic cleansing, and land theft, in order to expand their borders throughout Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Egypt.  This will all be sold to the public on the grounds that we are at war with Iran and that Israel is in a fight for its very survival against a genocidal enemy intent on murdering all Israelis and destroying their country.  Again, this narrative offensive will be rolled out with such force that it will make the COVID narrative seem small in comparison.

I believe that Europe and the US will not hesitate to intervene and perhaps even facilitate a nuclear attack on Iran, while threatening the rest of the Arab world with similar destruction if they continue to attack Israel.

If such a war develops between the West and Iran, the global energy market will of course suffer tremendously and most if not all of Israel’s infrastructure will be destroyed.  I believe that Europe and the US will not hesitate to intervene and perhaps even facilitate a nuclear attack on Iran, while threatening the rest of the Arab world with similar destruction if they continue to attack Israel.

Meanwhile, Trump may attempt to bribe Russia to stand down and allow Iran to be destroyed by promising Russia a generous peace with Ukraine, an end to Western sanctions, and a comprehensive peace plan that would be contingent on Russia not siding with China.  If Russia refuses to play ball and continues to side with Iran and China instead of cutting a deal with the West, the West will obviously widen the war against Russia.  We could see literal declarations of war from Western nuclear armed countries and a wholesale mobilization and overt shift to a war economy to prepare for war with Russia and Iran.

Lastly, on the third front with China, the US has been preparing to implement a trade embargo for years.  At any given moment, the US could tell their Taiwan proxy to declare independence which would trigger an immediate Chinese trade embargo against Taiwan.  This is precisely the justification that the West would need to implement their own trade embargo against China.

And let me underscore once again that the US has been preparing for years, to choke off China's most vital maritime shipping lanes:

"They (China's vital shipping lanes) are surrounded by archipelagos of islands that isolate the seas from the Pacific and, therefore, from the rest of the world. The islands of the Philippines and Indonesia create narrow passages into the Pacific and Indian oceans. Java, Borneo and Mindanao are the frame of this system of islands, while the space between them is filled with randomly distributed smaller islands. Compounding China’s problem, the interior of the South China Sea is also filled with small islands.

Any of these islands can house hostile air and missile forces, while the narrow spaces in between can be blocked by naval forces. China doesn’t have guaranteed access to the islands on the periphery of this system. To gain access, it must control a wide passage through the South China Sea, and having done that, force its way through the narrow straits surrounding it. Assuming that the United States would position its carrier battle groups in the east and south of the outer frame, the Chinese would first have to clear the interior of the South China Sea and then fight their way through narrow choke points that the U.S. could make impassable."

https://geopoliticalfutures.com/chinas-maritime-choke-points/

So once the US begins the violent implementation of the long planned trade embargo, the US believes that it is in a much better position to hold out economically than China is.  China's economy would take a terrible beating while the US continued to trade with their allies without threat from China's nonexistent blue water navy.

So, keep in mind, there are three major theaters of operation including West Asia (Israel and Iran), Eastern Europe (Ukraine and Russia), and the South China Sea (Philipines, Taiwan, and China).  The West may choose to activate all theaters simultaneously or they may try and win one at a time culminating with China.  They may pick Trump or Harris as their chosen figurehead or they may remove either one in favor of their VP's if they turn out to be too intransigent or too incompetent.  They may choose to initiate things this week, or they may spend another year or more putting their pieces in place before we see a major push and the rollout of their strategy.

What seems clear though is that Iran, Russia, and China prefer cooperation to confrontation and it is the US alone that is hellbent on provoking confrontation.  I've described how a plausible scenario  could play out but obviously there are multiple variables at play and I could be wrong regarding the fundamental assumptions defined in paragraph four.

I'm absolutely certain though that the West can't win a war against Iran, I am equally certain that Russia would never cut a deal with the West and sell out Iran or China, and there's no chance in hell that an attempted economic embargo against China would ever work to successfully contain China.  China's rise is inevitable.  The window for success against China closed five to ten years ago.  The West is incompetent, hubristic, and incapable of rational behavior.  Putin, Xi, Kim, and the current government of Iran want to engage in win-win trade and peace through mutual prosperity.  They want to avoid war at all costs but they refuse to surrender their sovereignty in the process.

The future is bright for those countries under attack from Western Imperialism.  Western imperialism is in *terminal* decline.  Unfortunately though the West gets to decide how their collapse will play out and how many people are hurt in the process.  It doesn't seem likely that they will make good decisions, in part because the decision makers themselves will not have to suffer from the consequences of their actions.
